Production Process Evaluation
Research
• The strengths of my research was that I could research similar existing games
to mine which could give me ideas for my game, this saved a lot of time as I
didn’t have to think of all the elements of the game and I could switch it up
and make it my own after having some inspiration.
• One weakness of research was that when looking into games that are already
made, it makes you want to do so many things to improve the game and make
it look as good as existing ones but it is difficult because you don’t have all the
right equipment and time to do this.
• I struggled to find and research characters that would give me inspiration for
my game so I ended up not showing any characters and did it from a first
person view as I couldn’t pick how I wanted to design my character and that
was also taking up a lot of time.
• If I had more time I would have made my logo I designed more relevant to my
game and made it look a lot better, I would have also researched some existing
logos to give me ideas as this was just made up and thought of by myself.
Planning
• The strengths of planning my project was the fact that when it came down to drawing
my designs for the game on pixel art it was really easy to create what I wanted and the
finished product was how I imagined it.
• In my initial plans PowerPoint I created mind maps to help me generate ideas for my
game and my mood board. Although I didn’t stick to my mind map and mood board
100% it still helped me think of my game I did make.
• My pre-production helped me a lot because it made me know how to design the rest of
my gameplay and where parts of my game belong.
• The weakness of my game was when I had to turn my drawings into an actual games as
it slowed me down a lot and I had a lot of technical issues. It also took up a lot to draw
it all and find templates to give me an idea.
• Another weakness of the planning was coming up with an idea in general and think of a
good game for the correct audience and target that.
• Also I did plan to make my game a criminal one but as it came to actually doing that I
found it easier to create basic designs instead of weapons and dead body's etc.
• If I had more time I definitely would have liked to make more items for the user to find
and also when they found it have it pop up in the middle of the screen saying they have
found it but I realised it would take u too much time to do it for every item.
Time Management
• On day one I managed time very well when I was designing the logo because I had to figure
out how I wanted it, and this took a couple tries but I did manage to finish it on day one.
• For day two, I had to add the detail onto the logo such as the name, this did take a while to
create of a name but I did it and after I did this I had a lot of spare time to move onto the
background of the game. This worked well in my favour as I knew it would take me a couple
of days to do the actual background of the game as there was such detail I wanted to add.
• My time management was going good until I had to try and draw the main detail in the
background. I knew how I wanted to have it but it would have taken days if I was to carry this
on as there was a massive amount of detail from the example I was using. I feel like the text
part was done really quickly though.
• After finishing the background, I started to design some of the items that I wanted to include
in the game on day 4. this did take quite a while as I needed to try find some templates on
google for the items and draw them onto the app I was using.
• For day 5, I continued with drawing all of the items and filled them with the colour I wanted
them to be.
• After doing this I hid all the designs for the player to find and any extra images I wanted to
find, I also designed a hint button that was included in the game in case any of the items
wasn’t able to be found. I added at the end of the game, text to show what score they had
got, how many hints they had used and the remaining time left. All those added up to stars if
you didn’t use all the hints and finished in a certain amount of time. You also get a star for
the score you achieve. They also have the option to restart or start a new level.
• All that was over a bunch of days and I feel like managed the time very well and didn’t cramp
it all into one day.
Technical Qualities
Both of the games have the objective to find the objects that you have been told to find.
The differences from my game to the professionally made one is that the images are
super clear and are more hidden than mine. Mine are more visible as I found It very
difficult to make my game look like that and add a lot of detail into the background. Our
games both have a similar objective and you can tell clearly on both games what the
objective is just by looking at these pictures.
Aesthetic Qualities
I feel the game
is quite creative
as the player
has to find the
items to
complete the
level and move
on without
using any hints
to pass. if they
don’t use any
the more stars
they game but
if they do
decide to use
the less they
earn.
I would really like to improve this game by adding more items to
disguise the items that do need to be found because then it would
make the game a bit harder but I planned to make the levels more
harder as they go on which means there would be more items then. I
didn’t want to make the game so hard that the person playing would

because it looks very neat and adds a
little bit of text to mix it up from all
drawing.
Audience Appeal
I think I have appealed my target audience pretty well as the game overall looks child
friendly and the images I chose to draw look innocent and friendly which will attract the
audience I want. Also there isn’t a lot of writing, only a little bit which children might like
more as it doesn’t have paragraphs to read and might lose interest.

• What did you like about the product?
– I liked that all the drawings look like realistic things
and also the way they move and disappear to make it
look like a proper game.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– You could have made the pace of the game slightly
faster as you are staring at the screen too long. Also
some of the writing when the items have been found
is too small and you can barley see what it is saying.

– I like how you can see what the game is about or
get a general idea of the game just by looking at it.
The text and the scores look really neat and the
colours all go well together.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– You could have added some sort of background
music or sound effects to make the game less
plain.

• What did you like about the product?
– I liked that in the game you have hints to help you find
the items. I also liked how the items looked and they
did look exactly how they are meant to look and also
when you find them at the bottom of the screen it
crosses them off to tell you, you have found them.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Although the hints was very good, when pressed there
could have been like a special effect button to know
that you have pressed it and the item should pop up
onto the middle of the screen.
Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
– I agree with the fact I could have added some sound
effects or background music to the game, I would really
liked to have done this but I didn’t have that much time to
do this.
• What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
– I disagree with the pace of the game as in the feedback
they have also mentioned the fact that my writing is too
small to read so if I made the game faster you wouldn’t be
able to see what the writing said so I made the pace of the
game a bit slow purposely to ensure you can read the
small text.
Peer Feedback Summary
The changes I would make to my game would definitely add some background music and/
or sound effects. I feel this just makes the game 10x better than it already is with music
because it just isn’t silent. Also there was something I disagreed with from the feedback
and that was the pace of the game, I would make some of the writing bigger and make the
game a little bit faster and take the advice I have been given, even if I do disagree with what
has been said.

  • 3. Research • The strengths of my research was that I could research similar existing games to mine which could give me ideas for my game, this saved a lot of time as I didn’t have to think of all the elements of the game and I could switch it up and make it my own after having some inspiration. • One weakness of research was that when looking into games that are already made, it makes you want to do so many things to improve the game and make it look as good as existing ones but it is difficult because you don’t have all the right equipment and time to do this. • I struggled to find and research characters that would give me inspiration for my game so I ended up not showing any characters and did it from a first person view as I couldn’t pick how I wanted to design my character and that was also taking up a lot of time. • If I had more time I would have made my logo I designed more relevant to my game and made it look a lot better, I would have also researched some existing logos to give me ideas as this was just made up and thought of by myself.
  • 4. Planning • The strengths of planning my project was the fact that when it came down to drawing my designs for the game on pixel art it was really easy to create what I wanted and the finished product was how I imagined it. • In my initial plans PowerPoint I created mind maps to help me generate ideas for my game and my mood board. Although I didn’t stick to my mind map and mood board 100% it still helped me think of my game I did make. • My pre-production helped me a lot because it made me know how to design the rest of my gameplay and where parts of my game belong. • The weakness of my game was when I had to turn my drawings into an actual games as it slowed me down a lot and I had a lot of technical issues. It also took up a lot to draw it all and find templates to give me an idea. • Another weakness of the planning was coming up with an idea in general and think of a good game for the correct audience and target that. • Also I did plan to make my game a criminal one but as it came to actually doing that I found it easier to create basic designs instead of weapons and dead body's etc. • If I had more time I definitely would have liked to make more items for the user to find and also when they found it have it pop up in the middle of the screen saying they have found it but I realised it would take u too much time to do it for every item.
  • 5. Time Management • On day one I managed time very well when I was designing the logo because I had to figure out how I wanted it, and this took a couple tries but I did manage to finish it on day one. • For day two, I had to add the detail onto the logo such as the name, this did take a while to create of a name but I did it and after I did this I had a lot of spare time to move onto the background of the game. This worked well in my favour as I knew it would take me a couple of days to do the actual background of the game as there was such detail I wanted to add. • My time management was going good until I had to try and draw the main detail in the background. I knew how I wanted to have it but it would have taken days if I was to carry this on as there was a massive amount of detail from the example I was using. I feel like the text part was done really quickly though. • After finishing the background, I started to design some of the items that I wanted to include in the game on day 4. this did take quite a while as I needed to try find some templates on google for the items and draw them onto the app I was using. • For day 5, I continued with drawing all of the items and filled them with the colour I wanted them to be. • After doing this I hid all the designs for the player to find and any extra images I wanted to find, I also designed a hint button that was included in the game in case any of the items wasn’t able to be found. I added at the end of the game, text to show what score they had got, how many hints they had used and the remaining time left. All those added up to stars if you didn’t use all the hints and finished in a certain amount of time. You also get a star for the score you achieve. They also have the option to restart or start a new level. • All that was over a bunch of days and I feel like managed the time very well and didn’t cramp it all into one day.
  • 6. Technical Qualities Both of the games have the objective to find the objects that you have been told to find. The differences from my game to the professionally made one is that the images are super clear and are more hidden than mine. Mine are more visible as I found It very difficult to make my game look like that and add a lot of detail into the background. Our games both have a similar objective and you can tell clearly on both games what the objective is just by looking at these pictures.
  • 7. Aesthetic Qualities I feel the game is quite creative as the player has to find the items to complete the level and move on without using any hints to pass. if they don’t use any the more stars they game but if they do decide to use the less they earn. I would really like to improve this game by adding more items to disguise the items that do need to be found because then it would make the game a bit harder but I planned to make the levels more harder as they go on which means there would be more items then. I didn’t want to make the game so hard that the person playing would I really liked how this turned out because it looks very neat and adds a little bit of text to mix it up from all drawing.
  • 8. Audience Appeal I think I have appealed my target audience pretty well as the game overall looks child friendly and the images I chose to draw look innocent and friendly which will attract the audience I want. Also there isn’t a lot of writing, only a little bit which children might like more as it doesn’t have paragraphs to read and might lose interest.
  • 10. Feedback 1 • What did you like about the product? – I liked that all the drawings look like realistic things and also the way they move and disappear to make it look like a proper game. • What improvements could have been made to the product? – You could have made the pace of the game slightly faster as you are staring at the screen too long. Also some of the writing when the items have been found is too small and you can barley see what it is saying.
  • 11. Feedback 2 • What did you like about the product? – I like how you can see what the game is about or get a general idea of the game just by looking at it. The text and the scores look really neat and the colours all go well together. • What improvements could have been made to the product? – You could have added some sort of background music or sound effects to make the game less plain.
  • 12. Feedback 3 • What did you like about the product? – I liked that in the game you have hints to help you find the items. I also liked how the items looked and they did look exactly how they are meant to look and also when you find them at the bottom of the screen it crosses them off to tell you, you have found them. • What improvements could have been made to the product? – Although the hints was very good, when pressed there could have been like a special effect button to know that you have pressed it and the item should pop up onto the middle of the screen.
  • 13. Peer Feedback Summary • What do you agree with from your peer feedback? – I agree with the fact I could have added some sound effects or background music to the game, I would really liked to have done this but I didn’t have that much time to do this. • What do you disagree with from your peer feedback? – I disagree with the pace of the game as in the feedback they have also mentioned the fact that my writing is too small to read so if I made the game faster you wouldn’t be able to see what the writing said so I made the pace of the game a bit slow purposely to ensure you can read the small text.
  • 14. Peer Feedback Summary The changes I would make to my game would definitely add some background music and/ or sound effects. I feel this just makes the game 10x better than it already is with music because it just isn’t silent. Also there was something I disagreed with from the feedback and that was the pace of the game, I would make some of the writing bigger and make the game a little bit faster and take the advice I have been given, even if I do disagree with what has been said.
