Coronaviruses commonly cause mild upper-respiratory illnesses in people and the COVID-19 virus spreads similarly to the flu through coughing, sneezing, and respiratory droplets. Common symptoms include fever, coughing, and shortness of breath appearing 2-14 days after exposure. Penn State has restricted students and staff from traveling to China, South Korea, Iran, and Italy, and is bringing students back from Italy. All students on campus presenting fever, cough, or sore throat are being given masks to wear as prevention. Prevention methods include frequently washing hands, covering coughs and sneezes, avoiding close contact, cleaning surfaces, and avoiding touching the face. The university is monitoring updates from various agencies and meeting
