microscope.
• The virus consists of a core of genetic material surrounded by
an envelope with protein spikes. This gives it the appearance
of a crown. The word corona means “crown” in Latin.
ZOONOTIC NATURE
Corona viruses are zoonotic, meaning that the viruses are transmitted between
animals and humans. One of the viruses named MERS- CoV was transmitted
through dromedary camels to humans. The source of covid-19 is yet to be
determined, but the investigations are ongoing to identify the zoonotic source to
the out break.
TRANSMISSION
• It is transmitted from person to person
through droplets.
• When an infected person breathes out,
coughs or sneezes.
• It can also spread through contaminated
surfaces such as door knobs and handles.
• Scientists estimate that each infected person
is spreading the virus to two or more persons
on average.

POPULATION AT HIGH RISK
• Although the virus effects the people of every age but in the present day evidence two groups of people
