- The Nifty index settled slightly higher while the India VIX index increased. Put options at 8000 strike price saw increased open interest.
- Among stocks, Power Grid and Coal India saw gains over 2% while Bharti Airtel and Idea Cellular declined over 3%.
- Open interest decreased for State Bank of India futures and increased for Nifty January futures overall.
1. Nifty Options - OI Distribution
The Nifty was up by 12.75 points or 0.16% to
settle at 8,192.25.
As per the OI data, the maximum OI outstanding
for Calls was at 8200 SP and that for Puts was at
8000 SP. Besides, for intraday purpose, one could
use sell on rise strategy upto the level of 8200
for Target of 8100 with SL of 8230.
Nifty January 2017 futures closed at 8196.50 on
Tuesday at a premium of 4.25 points over spot
closing of 8192.25.
Among Nifty calls, 8200 SP from the January
month expiry was the most active call with a
contraction of 90 thousand open interests.
Among Nifty puts, 8100 SP from the January
month expiry was the most active put with an
addition of 2.5 Lakh open interests.
Nifty January futures saw an addition of 1.9 Lakh
units, taking the total outstanding open interest
to 1.72 Cr. units.
Among most active underlying, State Bank of
India witnessed a contraction of 12.7 Lakh of
Open Interest in the January month futures
contract, followed by Maruti Suzuki India
witnessing an addition of 1 thousand of Open
Interest in the January month contract, Bharat
Financial Inclusion witnessed a contraction of 1.1
Lakh of Open Interest in the January month
contract.
The top gainers on Nifty were Power Grid up by
2.64%, Coal India up by 2.32%, BHEL up by 2.04%,
Yes Bank up by 1.87% and Axis Bank up by 1.61%.
On the flip side, Bharti Airtel down by 3.22%, Idea
Cellular down by 2.40%, Bosch down by 1.41%,
Hero MotoCorp down by 1.34% and Tata Motors
down by 1.34% were the top losers.

2. Derivative Strategy Pay- Off Chart
The India Volatility Index increased by 0.81% and
reached 15.95.
The Nifty Put Call Ratio (PCR) finally stood at 1.20 for
January month contract .
The top five scrips with highest PCR on OI were TVS
Motor (1.85), Ajanta Pharma (1.79), Maruti Suzuki
India (1.52), KPIT Technologies (1.47) and DLF(1.46).
