RE: Mrs. Debra Lauffenburger
Dear GWU Advisor,
It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation at the request and on behalf of
Mrs. Debra Lauffenburger. I have had the pleasure of working with Mrs. Lauffenburger as her
Principal during York County School Division Summer Academy 2012. During her time at
Summer Academy, she possessed all the skills and the desire necessary for becoming a school
leader. Her primary responsibilities were teacher observations, student discipline, attendance,
textbooks, transportation, supervision, and working as a team with her colleagues. Additionally, she
assisted with SOL testing as a proctor and facilitator.
My time working with Mrs. Lauffenburger showed me that she is a relationship builder, team
player, and that she is very energetic with a desire to learn. She established positive relationships
with the students and staff at Summer Academy. She was not afraid to deal with challenging
situations. She was proactive in informing me about particular school issues and seeking input in
her decision making. Mrs. Lauffenburger was able to use these skills to reach the best possible
outcome in all situations that she encountered.
She is very people oriented and demonstrates excellent communication skills with staff, students
and the community. She demonstrates a high level self-assurance, calmness and confidence. She is
someone that can be truly depended upon. Her time in Summer Academy has allowed her to have a
true opportunity to function in the capacity of an administrator and has been a valuable opportunity
for which she has used to her advantage to learn about the position. Her work was essential to the
success of our Summer Academy program.

Sincerely,
“Signed”
Dr. Douglas Hartley
