To Whom It May Concern:
It gives me great pleasure to recommend Ms. Jill Warren for a teaching position. I have known
Jill for the past three years in my capacity as Associate Professor of Education and Program
Director of Special Education at Saint Joseph College. I was Jill’s professor for three courses in
her graduate program and am currently working with Jill on a federally funded project focused
on person-centered planning for youth with disabilities who are transitioning from school to
adult life. Jill was selected to be part of this project from a field of highly qualified individuals.
She is the only participant in the project who is a college student. Most participants are seasoned
teachers and administrators. Jill was accepted based on the skills, dispositions and initiative she
has demonstrated while at Saint Joseph College.
When I think of Jill, qualities that come to mind include her thoughtful and reflective nature,
open-minded respect for the views of others and an eagerness to learn and grow as an educator.
She was always an engaged participant in class and her reflections on her experiences working
with children enriched our class discussions. In her work with the current transition project, she
has taken advantage of every learning opportunity available to her. She is ready and eager to use
the skills she has learned to begin facilitating person-centered transition plans for youth with
disabilities and their families and I predict that she will become a much sought after facilitator.
Jill is contentious, organized, and systematic in her approach to tasks. I am certain that she will
be a highly effective teacher, as well as a skilled collaborative partner with colleagues, families,
and administrators. I know that she will make a positive difference in the lives of the students she
teaches and I recommend her without hesitation for a teaching position. Should you require
