In the quest for growth, many organisations focus on “what’s new” and the tastes of the young. A contrarian approach, focused on the elderly, may be larger and more profitable. Do you have a strategy for the fastest growing demographic in the world?

Philosophy
Meeting the needs of the whole child as an individual cognitively, physically, social & emotionally, and spiritually. We encourage families to partake in this process because we believe that team work is necessary and that parents are their child’s first teacher.
Vision
Our vision is to help the children we care for to become all they can be through a structured, loving, understanding, and safe, environment.
Mission
Our mission is to engage the students and their families in the learning process. We want to make learning fun and challenging for our children through the arts, and creative play. Each child is thought of as an individual so, we strive to meet their needs through lessons that are geared toward each child without making them feel different or separated from the other children in our care.
The assessment characteristic I will be using to focus on defining quality as a continuum is an ongoing assessment. The Early childhood Assessment is a tool I will be using as an ongoing assessment tool to collect information concerning each child for teachers, and the families of the children in my center. The information I gather will be used daily by myself, teachers, and parents to assess and assist children in the growth and develop process of each child, create a curriculum, set goals, and create an environment that is conducive for them cognitively, physically, socially and emotionally, and language wise. This assessment involves the teachers first observing the children and then documenting their findings. This assessment process will help us to run a more efficient and quality program for children and their families. By using this ongoing assessment tool we will be required to
· keep a record of each child’s growth and development
· specify the children that require extra support
· create an individualized plan for each child
· take note of their strengths and weaknesses
· ensure communication is strong between teachers, parents and other necessary staff members on a regular basis through home visits, parent conferences, and parent involvement activities in the center.
In an effort to ensure continuous improvement in my center will also welcome feedback from our parents.

students in the areas ofpersonal responsibility, planning and organizing, and problem

acting as a substitute dean or counselor at SVMS, including .counseling students,
documenting behaviors, supervising students, and working with chronically truant

To Whom It May Concern:
This is a letter of recommendation for Renee Reinhardt for School Counselor. Renee has been a
substitute School Counselor for me several times over the past two years. Additionally, I was Renee's
immediate supervisor for three years as she worked as Guidance Aide for an Early Mental Health
Initiative (EMHI) grant in the La Mesa-Spring Valley School District. I observed her as she worked with
children, teachers and other program staff. Her job responsibilities have included academic counseling
for students who are at-risk of not promoting which includes helping students develop decision making
skills and formulating realistic goals.
For the facilitating of "Second Step" (social skills) groups as a Guidance Aide, Renee implemented the
program for the first time at a new school site. This included organizing the curriculum, scheduling
students in groups and collaborating with staffto schedule children in the least disruptive manner. Parent
permission was procured and she was responsible for completing all grant-related paperwork (screening,
scoring and helping select students for inclusion).
Renee connects easily with children and adolescents. She is very attentive and perceptive to the needs
and feelings of students and along with building a positive rapport, maintains healthy boundaries. Her
enthusiasm to engage parents was so successful that she recruited an abundance of parent support - after
which I told her she'd be a great recruiter one day.
An essential part of the grant implementation included ongoing training and supervision. Renee was an
eager and open learner and maintained a consistently positive attitude. She was also a participator and
contributor. She shared her opinions and ideas openly and respectfully and set an example for others.
Renee was collaborative and applied concepts almost immediately. A sampling of the over 200 hrs of
training she received during her time with the Early Mental Health Initiative includes developmental
stages, personality styles, positive discipline, impact ofpoverty on learning, language acquisition stages,
emotional intelligence and ways to engage children.
There was a sizeable amount of grant paperwork and written communication involved in setting up each
semester's schedule for the Second Step grants, coordination with teachers, and organization to meet
grant demands. Renee is adept at communicating with teachers in a professional manner and managed
always to have things completed by the deadlines.
Renee is a responsible, lifelong learner with a passion to help students become the best person they can
be. Renee is eager for and ready to work in a position as School Counselor. Please feel free to contact
me for any additional information. -
Sincerely, .

I am writing to you to recommend Renee who has been an intern here at SVMS for the past four
months. I think she was agift given to me at avery busy time of the year. Iwill be happy to tell you about the
contributions she has made to our counseling team here at SVMS.
Although Renee has only been here ashort time she has experienced and dealt with many situations
that aseasoned counselor would incur. I have never seen aperson connect with kids like Renee does. She
shares her own experiences in aprofessional mannerwhich makes the students feel comfortable to open up to
her. She is pleasant, kind, hard working, and no job is too hard or too challenging for her to volunteer for.
Since Renee has been here she has helped plan and prepare for aGirl's Empowerment Conference,
also volunteering to be apresenter at the conference. Her session was on "Healthy Relationships", and she did
an excellent job. It was fun, informative and practical; the girls evaluated her session a 5on ascale of 1-5.
Renee also planned and chaperoned two study trips. Some ofthe otherexperiences Renee has been involved
in are: articulation with are feeder schools, course descriptions for next years current students, IEP'S, SST's,
DBST's, SCT's, SIP's, presented at an after-school club, academic small groups and many other numerous
aspects of counseling guidance program.
When working with serious personal-social issues, Renee has avery perceptive sense of needs and
can quickly assess the course of action to take. She has participated in CPS reports, PERT team, Harmonium,
Healthy Start, and Hospice to get the help they need.
In these difficult economic times getting acounseling position will be achallenge for some. My dad
always said, "There is always room for one more good one!" Make room for Renee, because Iknow she will be
an amazing addition to any staff. Please feel free to contact me with any further questions.
Sincerely,
Jean Lincoln
