● Up-to-date information - continued renewal of information
● Keeps educators “new” and “fresh” - since
educators will use information they will be exploring and thinking of how to
use information
● Easy access - search and discover
● Variety of modes - video, text, photo, etc.
3. Concerns regarding OER
● Cultural Barriers/Language Barriers - access to
translation programs
● Lack of Access - Don’t have access to Internet or the programs
to “see” items
● Quality - relevancy and accuracy may be questionable
● Longevity - will people keep posting if there is no financial gain
● Reliability/Permanency - will information still be there a
year from now
4. Final thought
In theory OER is a fantastic idea and with
strong support from quality educational
institutions as well as getting business and
corporate people involved it can be sustainable
and provide quality for the future.
