Open educational resources (OERs) provide several benefits such as allowing for continual evolution with new information, being environmentally friendly by reducing printing, and lowering costs for students. However, OERs also present some challenges like having limited initial resources, requiring time to develop quality materials, and needing widespread internet access and understanding of OERs.

2.  Evolution- As new information comes out, the
Open Education Resources are able to change and
stay current.
 Environmentally Friendly- People can access all
the information online, saving printing resources.
 Lower Costs- Students can attend more courses
because they don’t have book costs associated with
the courses.
 Personal Growth- People can attend free courses in
subject areas of interest without having to take out
student loans.
 Collaboration- People from all over the world can
work on projects together.

3.  Resources- As OERs are still fairly new, it can be
difficult to find resources that are available to use
in the OERs.
 Time- Creating OERs takes time to find resources
and put them together cohesively with the project.
 Understanding- Most people don’t know what
OERs are and it takes time to educate people.
 Internet Access- OERs are nothing without internet
access for people to get to the OERs.
 Quality- People need to be aware that anyone can
create an OER and so they need to fact check to
ensure the materials are correct.
