2. Firstly I inserted the three photos I wanted to use and rearranged them on the page to make one of them
the focus of the contents and the two slightly less relevant. Also, I tilted the bottom two pictures on an
angle so that they would fit and look more edgy and different. I inserted a border around the picture of
Steph to make it stand out more because it overlaps the picture of Jess. I inserted the text how I wanted it
at the top with the ‘S’ being tilted on an angle and in grey rather than white like the word ‘contents’ and
the date; this making the ‘S’ seem more important and iconic. And the two thin line like rectangles on
either side of the page gives the contents page more of a sense of structure and organisation.
3. I then inserted the tabs organising the contents page into two sections
‘interviews and exclusives’ and ‘more features’. I did this by using the
text tool on two black rectangles I made using the shape tool. This
allowed them to stand out and take more focus on the page than the
text to be included afterwards. Also, it allowed the page to look more
organised and structured.
4. I then added the necessary text for content inside so the reader knew exactly
where to find everything. I did this using the text tool and made the page
number in red rather than black to make it stand out on the page and so that
it’s clear what page every feature was on. The text under the title ‘features
and exclusives’ is bigger than the text under the ‘more features’ title to
represent the more important information. The contents are organised by a
main sentence describing what the feature is and a smaller sentence
explaining it in a little bit more detail.
5. Then, I added captions describing each image. I did this by
using a black rectangular box and tilted it on an angle and
added text to it. And to maintain consistency, I included the
page number accompanied by who the picture was of. I kept
the page number in red to allow it to stand out so that the
reader knows exactly where to find it.
6. I finished by adding an editor’s message by inserting a text box with a black
border and tilted it on an angle to allow it to look different and edgy on the
page; similar to the layout of the bottom two images. Also, I added a small
page number at the bottom, the ‘S’ in grey, just like the ‘S’ at the top of the
page to maintain consistency.
