CENTINELA MINE, ANTOFAGASTA MINERALS, Apoquindo 4001, Las Condes, Chile (May 2013 – a la Fecha)
PROJECT MANAGER
- As 20 KTPD 2ª & 3ª Crushing System Project Manager, responsible of developing all phases of the project
from basic Engineering to Start Up, developed in al EPC mode with a crusher supplier. Project met all scope
specifications, 15% under budget, on time and is in operation. All safety standards met. ($ 190 MM)
- Stock Pile Dome. Execute the construction of a Geodesic Dome, with the Stock Pile in Operation, 130 meters
diameter, the biggest dome in operation. All project targets are met, developing advance technics to minimize
risks with outstanding results. (U$ 11 MM)
- Project Manager of third high solids tailings (72%) thickener to meet 105 KTPD production capacity. Currently
80% of project progress, on scope and schedule and under budget. (U$ 66 MM)
- Assigned to lead re-alignment and design issues resolve of two older tailings thickeners. Work with supplier to
develop technology and resolve reliability issues.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
• With the appropiate strategies, a well developed execution plan and appropiate vendor selections and
contractual strategies in two of the projects achieved saving of up to 15% in the total project costs and on
schedule.
• The 2ª &3ª Crushing system met all specifications of throughput and product quality.
• All projects with no high potential accidents.

- Al Project Manager responsible to develop 10 Stay in Business projects to meet mining plan in next 5 years.
Investment of $ 600 MM in projects of different phases of development. A project management staff of 120
People, and 900 for project execution.
- The most important projects are the following:
- Construction of a High Rate Thickener, 125 mts in diameter.
- Relocation of a 1600 Ton Primary Semi Mobile Crusher.
- Extension of the 67 KV Mine Electric supply line.

METHANEX CHILE S.A. – Cabo Negro, Punta Arenas (Mar 2009 – Sep 2010)
- As Project Manager in Methanex Chile in Punta Arenas, in charge of developing a team to search for new
options for the company to develop the company with less gas in Magallanes.
- In Team to develop and negociate with Petrobras a megaproject for a new petrochemical Hub in the Victoria
área in Brasil. Considers relocating two existing methanol plants to Brasil.
- In a team to explore new gasification technologies for Magallanes Coal, an integrated Project to Cogenerate
Methanol in Punta Arenas. This project was sponsored by the coal supplier and the Chilean government.
- At the site responsible to manage the rolling Capex priorizing iniciatives to optimize resources.
- In charge to fulfill the Sarbanes Oxley Governance with respect to investments in Chile.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
• Due to the gas curtailment in the area involved in developing different options to sustain the global methanol
operation.
• Best option finally is to transfer two methanol train to Luisiana, USA
METHANEX TRINIDAD LTD. – Point Lisas Hub, Trinidad & Tobago (Mar 2009 – Sep 2010)
- Asignement to the Methanex Trinidad Operation as Technical Manager, the 2ª biggest methanol plant en the
world.
- For 2 year responsible to develop a team for the site plant engineering, and in charge of the lab for the
product quality assurance. Technical Dept with a staff of 55 people, anual Capex budget of$ 165 MM, and
Opex of $ 14 MM.

- Assigned to Lead and plan all projects in the major plant shutdown in 2009 (turnarround), the biggest
shutdown ever made in Methanex, with an integrated team from maintenance, operations and projects. No
accidents, ($ 48 MM)

METHANEX CHILE . - Santiago, Chile (Jun 2004 - Feb 2009)
- Performed as Project Superintendant in Methanex Chile in Punta Arenas. With an owner team of 10 engineers
and 30 external support, execute 90 sustaining projects in 3 years. ( Total $ 130 MM).
- Accountable for the evaluation and control of the Chile Capex.
- Lead of the Global Technical, a joint work with teams in New Zeland, Canadá, Trinidad y Egypt where
Methanex has its assets.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
• Integrate the global technical teams to develop common Standards in projects and QA/QC.
• Implement the Rolling Capex plan methodology where the investment plan is revised and prioritize after new
conditions of the company.
CMPC CELULOSA, PROJECT MANAGEMENT DEPT.
SANTA FE LINE II PROJECT (Jun 2003 – May 2004)
- As Caustisizing & Utility areas Project Manager. Part of the team to develop the new Santa Fe II bleached
eucaliptus plant (MMUS$ 713,-).
- Lead the design of the caustisizing and Lime Kiln according to new environmental standards.
- Part in the design of the new river feedwater system (Bocatoma), Energy system for two turbogenerators,
new Recovery Boiler, Revamp of existing biomass Boiler, and effluent system. All system integrated with the
existing plant in operation.
LAJA MILL, GENERATION PROJECT (Jan 2003 – Jun 2003)
- Construction y commissioning Manager of the Generation System for the Laja Plant, that includes a
Backpressure 40 MWe Turbogenerator and auxilaries. Includes complete redesign of Laja Mill energy system
($ 36 MM).
MININCO PLANT, PROPAC PROJECT (Nov 2000 – Jan 2003)
- Project Manager in Caustizicing and Energy generation Systems. Acountable of the new expansion PROPAC
project of these areas, in the Pacifico Mill( MMUS$ 96,-).
- Expansion of the Caustizicing plant and Lime Kiln for a 42% increase capacity, aligned to new envormental
regulations.
- Engineering, construction and Start Up of the new generation system installing a Condensing 40 Mwe Steam
Turbine, complete condensing system and cooling tower.

SUSTAINING PROJECTS SANTA FE MILL (Jul 1996 – Nov 2000)
- Project lead in Termal Plant to assure the reliability and bottlenecks of all the pulp mill services (compressed
air, feedwater, steam, and electric energy) through the conversion from black liquor to green liquor.
- In the team to meet ISO 9000 and ISO 14000, Santa Fe the first Pulp Mill to certify in Chile.
- Implementation of Total Productive Maintenance and Cero Accidents processes to improve vaue chains.
- Most important sustaining projects developed:
- Pilot project of chloride and potasium abatement in the black liquor. Due to enviromental
constraints liquor loops were closed and concentration of these chemicals developed plugging
problems in many areas.
- Recovery Bioler Combustion system improvements. Combustion process was improved and
downtime reduced to half.
- Saving of 10% of heat consumption through the impementation of Energy optimization projects.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
• Achieve the definition of the steam system, LayOut of Causticizing for the new Santa fe Line.
• Complete the design, erection and Start Up of two Turbogenerators in Laja and Pacifico Mills, adding 80
MWe to own generation.
• The expansion of the Pacifico Causticizing area achieving the increase in capacity and new environmental
regulations.
• Technological development in the area of recovery bioler combustion to manage chlorides with an
increase in reliability in the process.
FORESTAL E INDUSTRIAL SANTA FE, As Shell,Scott Paper and City Bank Co (Ene 1992 – Jun 1996)
- Biomass Boiler Project Manager. Developed from the basic engineering the complete project for a Biomass
Bioler for 80.0 Ton/Hr of steam at 64 Bar de pressure, with all the auxiliaries, and fuel feeding systems.
Engineering developed in a Consultant in Brasil. ($ 87 MM)
- SAMP Project, as project lead ( Debottlenecking project ) at Santa-Fe Plant. Developed the conceptual studies,
basic and detail engineering fro an increase of the Pulp Mill capacity of 35%. Supported by intenational
consultants a final scope of all modifications is defined, ( MMUS$ 72). Later the project was executed on
budget, schedule and scope achieved.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
• This is the first Fuidized Bed Biomass Boiler installed in Chile. The project exceeded efficiency and
environmental results burning high moisture wood waste. After that project the standard for all chilean Pulp
mill projects is this Bulbing Fluidized Bed Combustion technology.
• In the SAMP project all specifications were met and a 40% capacity increase was achieved.
FORESTAL E INDUSTRIAL SANTA FE, As Shell,Scott Paper and City Bank Co (May 1989- Jan 1992)
During Santa Fe Mill Start Up, a list of debottlenecking projects are executed, described by area:
Heat & Energy Systems Area:
- Revamp of the Fuel Oil system of the Power Plant.
- Redesign of the Suphate system of the Recovery Bioler.
- Black Liquor feeding and combustion system for high solids in Recovery Boiler combustion.
- Modificatons in the Water intake system from Bio Bio River to the Mill.

Pulp Finishing Area:
- As client Engineer responsible of assess engineering, procurement and erection of finishing area with
Jaakko Poyry as consultant.
- Existing drying area is modified from Kaft paper drying to Pulp Drying, reusing most of the existing
systems ($ 2.5 MM)
- Redesign of the Vacuum system, Machine ventilation, Heat Recovery, Foudrinier and Pulp Presses.
Mechanical Discipline Engineer. With a staff of 15 Engineers, developed the commisioning and Start Up
procedures for the new Santa Fe pulp mill.
Main Commissioning iniciatives:
- As Commissioning Engineer for the new Siemens Turbogenerator (25 MW), responsible of
finishing erection, steam blows, commissioning and start up.
- Design and Implementation of a Trainees Engineers for the Pulp Mill start up. Hired 32 out of
university Engineers and are trained for the pulp mill commissioning.
INFORSA, INDUSTRIAS FORESTALES S.A. (Abr 1986 – Abr 1989)
- Developed equipment selection and mechanical specs fro a 40 Ton/hr Fuel Oil Boiler.
- Project Lead of the aditives Cellier Plant Project. Developed Engineering, erection and Start Up including all
mechanical equipment and Control system. All operating logic is developed in house.
- Basic design of the distributed control system (Software & Hardware) to reduce energy consumption in
Defibrators.
- Involved in the installation of the new Duoformer for Paper Machine Nr.1
INFORSA, INDUSTRIAS FORESTALES S.A. (Ago 1985 – Mar 1986)
Worked as a consultan to the Engineering & Maintenance Superintendant resolving Energy and Mechanical
issues in the plant:
- MP-1 heat ballance, energy recovery and pocket vetilation modifications.
- MP-2 heat balance, building ventilation mods, design and installation of new Air-Air heat exchangers to
improve termal efficiency. Modifications of the steam and condensate systems of the paper machine.
- Developed software for plant engineering in thermal insulation, Paper machine equipment heat transfer
coeficients, hydraulic ducts and headers pressure loss calculations. Slurries calculations.
ARA-CADE-IDEPE Engineering Consultant in the Laja Procel Project (Mar 1985 - Jul 1985)
- Part of the Engineering team in the Procel project (Laja Mill Optimization Project, CMPC), in the design of
piping, caustic soda for Recovery Boiler Scrubber, design of green liquor channels, desgn of blow down
condensate from boilers.
Independant Consultant (Jun 1984 – Jan 1985)
- Conceptual design to Forestal Diguillin to develop a new Wood Drying Facility and its Power Plant for 4000
m3/month wood. Developed the conceptual design, basic engineering and equipment selection.
