Questionnaire results
1. 15-18
I handed out my questionnaire to my main target
Years audience which was 15-25 years of age. This allowed
30% 35%
19-21 me to gain a strong picture of what they expect and
want to see in a magazine and whether these
Years expectations change with age.

Years
I decided to give out my questionnaire to both
males and females. I made sure that I shared
them equally to ensure that my data would be Male
fare and reliable. I was interested to hear the 50% 50%
different opinions and to see if they were gender Female
related.
2. 35% of the people that completed the questionnaire
opted for 50p-£2 for the maximum price that they
would spend on a music magazine. 50% of the
10%
15% people chose £2-£3 which suggests that the majority
50p-£1 of people are more likely to purchase the magazine
at this price. 15% chose £3+ which is unsurprising as
25% £1-£2 they were aged 20-25 years. This suggests that
£2-£3 because they are older they have their own income
so they can afford to pay larger amounts. I have
£3+ chosen to market my magazine at the price range of
50% £2-£3 as this was the price range chosen by the
largest majority of people asked.
3. 5%
5% Hip Hop
10 RnB My results clearly shows that the majority of readers
40% resulting in 40% enjoy listening to Hip Hop. RnB
RnB closely followed behind at 25%. The least popular was
15
Pop Rock and Dubstep receiving 5% which worked out to
be one vote per each genre.

Rock
The four colours that received the most votes were White
white, black, blue and red. I was not very surprised to 20%
see yellow and green get no votes as these colours are 35% Black
very uncommon to see displayed on a magazine.
However, from these results I have decided on the 10% Blue
colour scheme to be white, black and blue or red, this is Red
because the colours compliment each other and give it 35%
a clean professional look. Yellow

5% Everyday The results to how often do you buy a magazine was
15% very predictable, as the UK does not consist of having
a big selling music magazine which my target audience
Weekly are intrigued in. This emphasises on the results as not
55%
one person buys a music magazine a day and 55% of
25%
the people who took part in the questionnaire ‘never’
Monthly buy a magazine. These results really reflect on the 15-
25 year olds perception of music magazines.
5. 50% of people chose an ‘interview’ with an artist 5%
which is understandable as many people will buy a
magazine due to who’s featuring on the front cover 20% 25% Celeb Gossip
expecting there being an article on the artist. Also
the second highest was ‘celebrity gossip’ which is
Interviews
a big part of the media which most people are New Artists
interested in and would refer pick over ‘fashion’
and ‘new artists’. In my double page spread there Fashion
50%
will be an interview on the featured artist.
10% 15%
None These results clearly show that 85% of the people
have attended a live concert which implies that they
1 to 5 are becoming more popular in this age range.
6 to 10 Shockingly 3 people aged 22-25 voted for not having
attended a concert which emphasises on concerts
11+ being more popular in the younger generation.

6. Nearly all of the people that responded to this question suggested that the magazine should have a striking main
image that will certainly stand out and represent the music genre. Also, someone suggested that you should keep
the sell lines short and snappy instead of having an excessive amount of writing which is a very strong point which
I will definitely use as it will allow the viewer to focus on the main image. Furthermore, half the people also
suggested to keep the font the same and have no more than a ‘three based colour’ this will give the magazine a
professional look. Other suggestions haven’t inspired me to incorporate them in my magazine like ‘a long shot for
the main image’ as they wouldn’t attract the target audience.
I received a large amount of different artists which show that Hip Hop and Rap are big genres and have many
artists that are liked and popular. Some artists had been repeated more than three times which were Kendrick
Lamar for his unique style and perception of what he expresses in his lyrics. Tyga was said for his flow of music
and the look of the artist in being different and unique in his appearance, and Meek Mill that is liked for his
background and how he expresses his life and experiences through his lyrics. This will help me to complete my
magazine front cover as I can use some of the appearances they have and incorporate them in my focal image and
furthermore talk about the artists background in the double page spread that will engage the audience.
