Top 10 Pieces of Advice To Manage FIFO Work – From FIFO Workers
1. Communicate with your family everyday and have a laugh often.
2. Remember if you call home and have nothing to say, it is ok.
3. Set goals and challenges for yourself and treat home life during time off as sacred.
4. When you return home for R&R, fit in with the families normal routine, don’t expect them
to change their routine to accommodate you.
5. Be disciplined on site with sleep, exercise and diet. Good rest is critical.
6. Consider carefully if you have a young family or you are in a new relationship.
7. Become financially literate.
8. Take it swing by swing. You are not as important as you think. The job will go on without
you. Family comes first.
9. Make friends, being lonely doesn’t help. Socialise with people who are positive.
10. Have an exit strategy.
