2. Objectives:
• To learn the significance of proper posture and
good health
• To identify the best grooming practices
• Learning the basic wardrobe and color choices
depending on the personality of individual
• Increasing self-confidence by determining
your way of living in terms of physical aspect
3. Physical Aspect
• Heredity and environment determine the
entire physiological system of an
individual. Posture, body build and size,
complexion and facial expressions, as
well as the appropriateness and
condition of clothes, comprise the
physical appearance of a person.
4. Good Health and Posture
Good Health -There are several
benefits of a healthy life. Your body
becomes free from various forms of
disorders and thus, you get a longer
life. You can live a life without suffering
from any aches, pain, or discomfort. In
every sphere of your life, you will be
able to perform to the best of your
ability. Doing excellent work helps you
to be a valuable member of a healthy
society. Besides, when you are
physically fit, it gets reflected on your
face. So, you look attractive and start
feeling good about yourself! If you
have a fit body, then you can lead a
physically active life even after
growing old. This is because; the body
can heal the regular wear and tear
associated with aging faster. In short,
health and wellness brings about a
drastic improvement in the overall
quality of your life.
5. Good Posture - Good
Posture ensures that the
least strain is placed on
muscles and ligaments.
Having good posture
prevents muscle fatigue
and backaches, decreases
wear on joints, ligaments,
and bones, and contribute
to a good appearance.
6. Importance of Good Posture
• Improves your image. Observe people who have good postures. They look good.
They look smarter and attractive. They feel confident and give out a certain appeal
and aura around them.
• Increases your concentration and thinking ability. When you are breathing
properly, you increase your thinking ability too. Remember that our brain requires
20% of oxygen to do its job properly. Thus, our brain functions efficiently when we
observe good posture.
• Facilitates breathing. It naturally enables you to breathe properly. If you breathe
properly, your body circulation will improve. Your metabolism will speed up, your
body’s energy creating capacity is greater and your body is able to eliminate free
radicals and waste materials fast.
• Makes you avoid health complications. A bad posture results in several
complications over time, such as increased risks of slipped disc, back aches, back
pain, pressure inside your chest, poor blood circulation.
• Your posture reflects your self-confidence. If you lack self-confidence, you are not
healthy emotionally. Good posture makes you feel good about yourself.
8. Good Grooming
Good grooming and
keeping oneself neat and
clean shows that a person
has respect for himself or
herself and the people he
or she comes in contact
with throughout the day.
There are many aspects of
grooming and personal
hygiene including hair,
nails, breath, body odor
and clothing.
9. Basic Wardrobe and Color Choices
• An individual’s style of dressing plays an
important role in enhancing his/her personality. It
is rightly said that “a man is known by his dress
and address”. An individual’s dressing sense
speaks volumes of his character and personality.
Developing your clothing personality is important
for developing self-confidence and a sense of
comfort and satisfaction with yourself. It helps in
crafting an image of you. The way you dress and
project yourself is a way of communicating your
personality, values and lifestyle to the world
around you.

to know your size, it
helps you to identify

body shape and giving some
thought and effort to dressing
in a variety of ways for a
variety of moods and
occasions would make a
person more creative,
confident and competent.
Higher self-esteem and
confidence results in positive
interactions and increase in
productivity levels. One is
more likely to become self-
actualized to accomplish their
goals.

Hourglass shape:
• Well defined (narrow) waist
• Hip and bust tend to be almost the same and
quite big
Inverted rectangle shape:
• Shoulders are wider than the hip
• Bust tends to be proportionally large
• Hips are small

• No defined waist
• The hips tend to have a similar width as the shoulders
• You do not have a lot of curves
• Your bust tends to be small or average
Pear shape:
• The hips are wider than the shoulder
• Fat tends to accumulated on the hips and buttocks
Apple shape:
• No defined waist
• Weight tends to form on the stomach
• Average bust size

Texture is basically
connected to the weave of
the fabric. Sometimes we
can texturize the fabric by
adding stitched details, pin
tucks and embellishments
as w ell. It also create
illusion to the body.
Texture says us about the
material feels and quality
of the materials.

18. C. Lines and Fabrics
VERTICAL LINES:
usually creates an illusion of height and
slimness, when repeated at equal intervals, it
can cause the figure to appear taller because
the eyes are drawn up and down..
HORIZONTAL LINES:
gives one a fuller appearance it tends to cut
short the persons height and makes the
person look broader and fatter.
19. DIAGONAL LINES:
may contribute to height or width
depending on their angle and length.
The long diagonal lines creates a feeling
of tallness and short.
CURVED LINES:
this produces the same effect as straight line of
similar placement. Curves add beauty to the garment
and the tailor’s style like scallops, frills, flounces
prove the same. The visual impact is softer and
more graceful. These lines are not used in many of
the men’s wear because it is more feminine. And it is
often used in women’s wear because it shows the
gentleness and gives a smooth look.
20. ZIG ZAG LINES:
This is a mixture of different emotions such as
erratic,intense,abrupt,fun,busy,confusinh and
diverse.Visually it is the eyecatchin nut someone
looking at it cannot define the person’s character
because the zigzags creates confusion in one at the
sight of it.

Clothing colors carry a lot
of emotions: each color
not only represents a
mood, it also changes the
mood when paired up with
other colors. Hence,
clothing colors are pivotal
when it comes to selecting
clothes.

Monochromatic Relationship Colors that are
shade or tint variations of the same hue.
Complementary Relationship Those colors
across from each other on a color wheel.
Split-Complementary Relationship One hue
plus two others equally spaced from its
complement.
23. Double-Complementary Relationship Two complementary color
sets; the distance between selected complementary pairs will
effect the overall contrast of the final composition.
Analogous Relationship Those colors located
adjacent to each other on a color wheel.
Triad Relationship Three hues equally
positioned on a color wheel.
