2. Mood Boards:
A range of ideas to take forward in to production. Should include images, colour schemes and font choices. Could include mock ups and evidence of existing design work which is inspiring you.
3. Mood Board 1 Analysis.
Within my first mood board I only wanted to include Images I feel would fit to my Idea of conspiracies, to start with I
wanted to find archival images related to some of cases I wanted use for example I found images for the first theory, ‘The
Bizarre Death of Elisa Lam’ for this I found a number of images from the last time this victim was seen in an elevator I felt
that these images were perfect for my fanzine as they’re legitimate images from the conspiracy and also helps keep the
audience scarred/interested as the images are scary. They also could easily be manipulated on Photoshop to add my
own spin.
I also wanted to find legitimate images for all of my conspiracies as I felt this was important to make my ‘secret file’ look
more professional so I researched images for these following case and can be seen throughout my mood board, for
example the images of aliens/reptiles could be easily related to the my third conspiracy ‘Lizard People aka Reptilians’ I
selected these images as I liked how they had been edited on Photoshop or I selected them as I liked the original image,
as I felt I could edit them in a way to make them my own.
I also found images to my final conspiracy, ‘The Spontaneous Human combustion of Mary Reeser”. The images I found
instantly stuck out to me as I felt they work very well to my genre of fanzine (Horror/Thriller) as they are very graphic
and scary, which will interest the fans of this genre.
After finding images that I could actually place in my fanzine, I wanted to look for images that would inspire me on how I
would want the design and layout of my fanzine would look, I knew I want to use a ‘secret file’ so I looked for this, I
found a few images, for example I liked the first image as it looked realistic and I feel is something I could recreate
myself. I also found an image of old tape, I thought this would be good to add to the fact file imagery, perhaps to attach
images to my fact file, I also looked for ‘textured’ paper, this again I thought I could use for my own work, to keep things
interesting and advance my skills in Photoshop.
I also used images of polaroid’s as I also thought this would be another useful way to make my fanzine and interesting.

5. MOOD BOARD 2 FONT STYLE.
‘Merdeka’- The reason why I picked this font because I felt it stuck out to me as a good font to use for the front cover of my
fanzine. The blank colour in each individual letter indicated to me that I could add colour in each letter when I had decided
upon my colour scheme, and then base the rest of my images, codes and conventions needed to complete a front cover of a
fanzine. However I feel that this particular font would not be suitable for the content of my fanzine, as it may become difficult
to read.
‘Uncle typewriter’- This font appealed to me as I could picture this easily in my fact file, this appeals to the aesthetic of my
idea, the old style type writer font is something you would see in in this genre of fanzine, and also is a lot easier to read with a
lot of content, However this is something I would not put as a front cover title as it is not captivating enough. I also liked how
the font had looked like it had smudged this, gives my fanzine look vintage.
‘Through the night’- Again this is inspired by an old style type writer, However I felt this particular font was a lot clearer to read,
as its size is slightly larger, this is I font I preferred the most out of the two. I also thought I could add colour at different parts of
my fanzine. For example in uses of a timeline.
‘1942 Report’- This again was old style type writing like font, I picked this font as I felt it was different, to the other two fonts, I
liked how this looked slightly more modern, with longer looking letters, and my audience could find this easier to read as there
is no smudging and a stronger black font.
‘Another Danger’- I selected this particular font as I wanted to go for something slightly different to my other fonts, I wanted to
see if this font would be more eye-catching throughout my fanzine, for example this font could be used alongside a timeline of
events, as it looks more hand drawn and gives a more personal touch to my work.

7. Mood Board 3 Colour Scheme
To create these colour schemes I used Color.Adobe.com. The reasoning for this was that I wanted to use a professional
software to help me develop as I would find it struggle to develop to make my own colours that went well together, I
could adjust the saturation, different shades of one colour, to match each other.
The first colour scheme I wanted to use dark shades of green, I felt this could be used in in diagrams, such as timelines,
annotation on images, or old documents on newspaper clippings etc. I could use handwritten type fonts as seen in my
font mood boards.
8. Pagination:
A plan for the pages of your book. What will be the cover? What will be the running order? What will go in it? How many
pages for each item? This is important to get right if you want it to print correctly later on. It will also help you plan the space
you have. I hope to use a beige like file, to convey to the genre of
my fanzine. I feel this colour will make my idea more
authentic. And there for more interesting to my
audience. I will do this on Adobe Photoshop by as
researched “e first step is to fill the background with a
colour for your texture. Usually a light tan or beige colour
is best since you can easily tweak this colour later if
desired. Choose a foreground colour by clicking the top
square in the Colour Picker tool at the bottom of the left-
hand toolbar. Once the dialog box opens, pick a light tan
colour and click OK. (I chose the CMYK colour: C14, M18,
Y41, K0). Now fill the background layer by using the paint
bucket tool or by going to Edit > Fill.” I hope to use these
steps to make my work as professional as possible.
I will add my own text using one of my
selected fonts on a previous slide. Most
probably a font that looks like old type write
text. This again will be don’t purposefully to
make my fanzine as professional as possible.
However my title font might be different,
just so that it stands out against other
subheadings on the page. I am thinking of
using different colours on my text,
Potentially black, red and white. This is
something I will decide when actually
putting my front cover together.
I also hope to add borders to my ‘file’ front
cover, I decided on this as I thought it will give
my cover a little dimension, and perhaps a pop
of colour to entice my audience, I researched
how to do this “Open the image and create a
new layer. Go to the Edit menu, select Fill and
fill the layer with black. Name the layer White
Border.
Click the fx button at the bottom of the Layers
panel and select Stroke. Set the the Size to 9
pixels, the Position to Inside, and
the Opacity to 60%.
These values are based on the size and
resolution of the image used. This
image is about 3″ x 4″ with a
resolution of 72 ppi.)
Go to the menu to the left in the Layer
Style dialog box, and select Blending
Options at the very top of the list. In
the Advanced Blending
Options section, set the Fill Opacity to
0%. Click OK to close Layer Styles. Note
the Fill Opacity field at the top of the
Layers panel.

For my second page I liked the idea of have a
content page. I find this particular screen
shot interesting as I like how it look hand
drawn, I thought I could find a font that looks
like this to add to my overall aesthetic of an
old ‘top secret file’. This also would help me
audience understand what is in my fanzine. I
feel this is something I could easily achieve in
my own work.
I would hope to layout my
content page similar to a diary
page, I could do this by using a
graph on Photoshop.

11. Production schedule:
You have 3 weeks to complete your book along with any
improvements. You need to plan this. What will you be doing
each week? How long should you spend on each task? How will
you know if you are head or behind schedule?
