The fugitive notes
1. Cameron Colquhoun The FugitiveNotes
Warner Bros presents lets the audience know. The colour is blue which gives an indication it
represents crime/police.
Directors are shown who could have done crime films before.
On the beat of the music Harrison Ford shows a torch light which suggests that at some
point we will be looking for Harrison Ford or something else. Harrison ford is so famous they
don’t even need his name in one. Then Tommy Lee Jones who is also famous had a beat too.
Synchronous sound
Then the title shows up- “The Fugitive”. The colour and shadows suggests that it will be in a
dark setting. Images of a city show up (Chicago) which is an establishing shot of where this
film is being set.
The less important actors are put in the bottom corner.
The black and white tells the audience it is a flashback to the past. The sirens are then heard
in the city which is diegetic with the non-diegetic soundtrack.
The soundtrack builds up where there is more action and the gun is shown. The ambulance
says Chicago on it to emphasise where this filmis based.
A camera sound is then heard and shown to highlight that this is a crime scene and that this
is a crime film. The house full of men in trench coats shows that these are
policemen/inspectors. There is also a man with blood on him (Harrison Ford) and scratches
that is clearly shown for the audience to see.
Police radios are heard but he is not in cuffs and is willingly going that shows he is not 100%
guilty
