2. The film begins with titles showing the names of actors and the title of the film. This done over the top of a dark city setting with big band style music, typical of the time that the film was made and of film noir. During the titles a transition and a tilt movement shows a neon sign above a theatre, which is a also a typical film noir convention.
3. This frame uses a long shot to show a bustling city street with lots people going into an event hall. This setting is very typical of the film noir genre.
4. This frame is also filled with film noir conventions. A low angle shot shows us a well dressed man standing against a wall with a light casting his shadow on it. The mise-en-scene here, particularly the costume, smoking and the lighting are all conventions of film noir. This frame uses another low angle shot to show a female character running from two men. Dark lighting is also used, highlighting the woman and keeping the men dark, which could possibly hint at the narrative of an innocent woman in trouble with bad men. The woman is also very well dressed and could also hint at a femme fatal style character.
5. A medium shot shows the female character and the two male characters restraining her. The dialogue in this part also reveals more of the narrative and that the woman is being held against her will. The lighting is also focused on their faces and darker around their middle. This frame is also similar to the last, however, the lighting in this frame further emphasises the characters place in the story. The men's face's are darker while the female character is still lit up, showing her innocence and the men's corruption which is also a convention of film noir.
6. A pan and then a medium close up introduces another character. The costume is stereotypical for film noir, particularly the trilby hat. This character could also be involved with the police force as it seems he is following the female character. A crime or police centred story is also a convention of film noir and features in many noir films. After a fade transition from the male character in the previous frame an extreme long shot shows a police car moving into a police station. This again shows a narrative focused on the police, very stereotypical for this genre.
