2. Ed Sheeran –
Galway Girl
This video is shot from the artists point of view, as seen in the first point of view
shot. This is effective as it shows Ed Sheeran’s personal experience of Galway, and
the girl he is with. This foreshadows that is it going to be a love story, and she is
the girl that the song is about.
In the second camera shot, it is a low angle shot so it shows that Ed Sheeran is on
the floor after being punched by someone and is looking up to the people
around him. This is ironic as people Are usually looking up to the artist and not
the other way round, therefore this brings him back down to earth and shows
that he is just as normal as the rest of the punters.
Finally, there is a long shot that zooms out into an extreme long shot. This shows
the whole of Galway, showing the audience what the setting looks like as a whole
and creating an Irish feel. They also use credits, as if it was a film, illustrating that
they put a lot of effort into the video and want it to loom as professional as
possible.

3. Clean Bandit -
Symphony
The first shot is an Ariel shot which shows that is it set in a very busy city, with cars all
over the road. This introduces the narrative of the video as the two men it is
centred around are living in the city. This also emphasises the artists popularity as it is
showing that if they are performing in the middle of a busy city, they must have a lot
of supporters.
This is a Mid shot and shows the artist Zara Larson singing. She has an orchestra
behind her so it looks busy and like they are really enjoying playing the song. She
looks very glamorous despite the only other people in the room being her band and
all the seats being empty., showing that she cared about her appearance because of
the many fans that look up to her as a role model.
This two shot of the two men in the narrative side of the video shows their
relationship, they appear very happy but it isn’t clear whether they are partners or just
friends. This is later revealed and shows their journey together so this 2 shot helps
show the audience that they are very close. It goes against the hegemonic norms to
show two gay men in a love story rather than two straight people so it portrays a very
powerful message

4. Imagine dragons - Thunder
The first establishing shot is an extreme long shot which demonstrates that the
video is set in the city. However, it is all in black and white which already appears
abnormal to the audience. The only colour in the image is three strobes of light
going into the sky which everyone is pointing at, therefore they are clearly an
important aspect of the storyline.
This shot is taken from a low angle to make the artist seem more important and
like he is above everyone else. The buildings going up behind him use the rule of
thirds to centre him right between them and make him stand out despite the
whole shot being black and white.
The entire music video is quite quirky and weird therefore this shot of a girl
dressed up as an alien shows that they are trying to make It seem futuristic and
represent their alternative style. She is sitting in a car with the reflections of
buildings on the window, which makes the concept of an alien seem more normal
and highlights that she is still in the city.
