2. The Photo shoot
These are the images I took from my photo-shoot of the model and performer which is
featured in both my digipak and magazine advert in order to relate the two products and keep
consistency in my design. The image I have circled is the photograph I have used for the
magazine advert and front cover of the album.
3. I first cut out the model/performer from the
background featured in the photograph using the
‘magic wand’ tool so that I can place the model
onto an artificial background.
I then took a sample of the model’s costume which would
show consistency in the product in terms of colour as I
used this shade of red as the background colour. This will
also allow the model’s white t shirt, pale skin and black
trousers to stand out in the centre of the frame of the
album cover.
4. I then selected the ‘Halant font’ from the selection of
Photoshop fonts as this is very similar to that ofThe
Smiths’ actual logo, however because I have created it
myself this will not be an issue due to copyright
reasons.
For the album name ‘AxeThe Monarchy’ I added a
white text box surrounding the font, this served the
purpose of covering up the sharp edge at the
bottom of the image of the model. This is a theme I
kept consistent throughout all images of the
digipak.
I then used the same font for the artist’s name;
however I did not place a text box around the
font and made the colour white instead of black
so that the name of the artist stands out more
than the album name.
5. I then added the magazine reviews on the
background layer using the same font in
smaller print to keep the attention mainly
on the album and artist’s name.
Finally, I created a white rectangle and
decreased the opacity to create a faint and
almost transparent banner with the phrase
‘out now’ as an indication that the album is
released, along with the name of a hit single
featured on the album.
