The master status is "...a status that has special importance for social identity, often shaping a person's entire life" (Macionis, 2013, p. 97). The
master status that I most identify with as having the biggest impact in my social identity is always being physically connected with my future wife
Kaisha as allowed by society either by holding hands, or other innocent ways of physically being together, and the title of this particular description
of a master status is, "one who is a part of that couple that never lets go" (as labeled by others). There are many role sets that are attached to my master

At first we were met with "awww" and "how long have you guys been together". People were surprised how often we held hands, but as time went on
and they never saw us apart (literally...we never stopped touching) the way people talked to us and treated us changed. We have lovers and haters.
Some people talk behind our backs, make comments, or just don't like us because of how we are, but we have made many new friends because of
this master status. People that I have never met before will come up and encourage us not to listen to the hateful or discouraging words of others, and
tell us to keep going and keep doing what we're doing.
Some things get in the way of my master status: role conflicts. Kaisha interns (taking a professional status) and obviously I'm not allowed to hold
onto her while she is doing that. I also have to be not as close with Kaisha when we are being the student (taking a student status) which is an
example of role conflict because we know we have to be apart in classes and labs, and such is the case when we are volunteering at the emergency

Earning a Masters degree was not a goal that crossed my mind four years ago, let alone attending college in general. As a teenager in high school I
