Evidence Of Pitch Presentation Skills
1.
2. Evidence Of Pitch
This is evidence of presenting my pitch to
my peers. I used a camera to record my
pitch which allowed me to look back on it
and reflect on what I did correct and things
I need to alter or change. This was
extremely informative and allowed me a
true perspective on how my magazine will
be viewed and perceived by my audience
and therefore what was working well and
what could be improved for better
reception. It also gave me the opportunity
to improve my performance skills and
explain my product.
In this pitch I used a slide changer to navigate through my pitch, also I used a
DSLR camera to record my pitch so I have evidence that I have done my pitch.
To stabilize the the video I used a tripod to keep it steady. To load my pitch I
used a project and Prezzi so I can get it bigger on screen for the rest of the
class.
3. Materials used + Environment
I used PowerPoint, Prezzi and the Internet to put together my pitch and present it in
the most professional manner..
4.
5. Witness Statement
This is further evidence of the completion of the pitch and I will follow the statement’s
feedback to improve my work. The pieces highlighted in yellow indicated things I need to
change and the things that are acceptable and work well are highlighted in green, these
aspects will be left alone with no alterations. Thus shows that I can gain feedback and
improve my work successfully.
6. Survey Monkey
I used a site named “survey monkey” to gather feed feedback on my pitch that I've done.
In the image below here are the questions I asked for my feedback on my pitch. These were:
“How would you rate my pitch on a scale to 1-5”
“How could I improve my pitch”
“Is there anything I can change on my front cover?”
“Is there anything I can change on my double page?”
“Was my proposal detailed enough?”
These questions are all valuable information
to inform the success of my product and
guide me into how to improve. It also
indicates what my audience would like to be
included by asking them directly for their
response, making them feel included in the
magazine content and design.
7. Survey Monkey (Continued II)
In my survey I asked up to 5 questions. I got my results and here they
are for each question.
Question 1: “how would you rate my pitch on a scale to 1-5”
Out of the 4 people who took my
survey the results came back as 4.
to go further into detail I was
given:
One three star
Two four stars
And one five star
The equaled the average up to 4
8. Survey Monkey (Continued III)
Question 2: “how could I improve my pitch”
In this I asked how I can improve my pitch on things I did, such as too
look at the audience more or talk louder.
Due to anxiety I was rushed and
didn't’t speak loudly, this means
a lot of my feedback would have
been to slow down and talk
louder. Which was most of the
feedback in this case.
Next time I do a presentation I'm
going to try and do what I've
been told in the feedback and to
slow down and talk a lot louder.
9. Survey Monkey (Continued IV)
Question 3: “Is there anything I can change on my front cover?”
In this I asked if my two front covers needed to have any changes even if
this was color, font, composition or any other features I may of missed.
Most of my feedback was to
add cover lines on which I
proceeded to do further on
in this power point. Also, I
was told I may be missing
certain conventions of a
magazine front cover and to
change some of the picture
which I slightly disagreed
with but I took it in mind
and see if I could change
this.
10. Survey Monkey (Continued V)
Question 4: “is there anything I can change on my double page spread?”
In this I asked if my two double page spreads needed to have any changes even
if this was color, font, composition or any other features I may of missed.
In this I was missing mostly
negative space meaning a
lot of space was not filled.
And it easy to take too
much space up but its also
easy to take up to less
space in what ever you're
creating.
One person said I should fill
the space with quotes and
more cover lines on the
double page, this is good
advice I will take on into my
improvements.
11. Survey Monkey (Continued VI)
Question 4: “Was my proposal detailed enough?
This was a simple question to answer and there's not much to say but in
general I was given good feedback on my proposals and not much changing
need to be done to them. The only thing I needed to change was to include my
figures of sales for the audience to analyze and prove the profit of the product.
13. Pitch Improvements
In my improvements its mainly just Photoshop
work. Firstly, I added some cover lines into the
front cover as it was lacking some main cover
lines.
Additionally I had to sort out my double page
spread. Firstly I need to add a pull quote in my
interview, this is one of the main things I need to
add into my double page. Secondly, I need to
add photo credits and interview credits into the
magazine otherwise people wont who took the
photo or who was the interviewer, this is also for
copyright and legal reasons.
14. Pitch Improvements (Continued)
BEFORE
AFTER
Part of the improvements I needed to make
was to add more detail into my target
audience, in the photos shown I clearly
added a paragraph more to the slide which
contains what I will be doing. As my
magazine of inspiration I used their target
audience as a guide to what I could contain
in my magazine as the genre is the same
and therefore the demographics of the
audience will be similar.
15. Pitch Improvements (Continued II)
Another thing I need to change about my pitch was that
my proposal was not long/ detailed enough. In this two
photos I have add more detail into my proposal and is
now up to the standard required and requested by my
peers, this also gives a greater outline of my product.

16. Photoshop Improvements
Part of the witness statement and feedback was to do
some editing on my front cover and double page to
improve the final product aesthetics. Some of the things
that needed to be changed were to add cover lines onto
the front cover, this is to ‘educate and inform’ (Malsow)
the audience of all aspects of the content of the magazine
and for the ‘Explorers’ (Katz) to gain wider, varied
knowledge of the genre. Also, I need to add photo credits
to the double page spread of my magazine, this is for the
legal reasons, copyright regulations and helps to convey
the authenticity of my work. Additionally, I need to add
the interviewer and credit them for their participation.
19. Production Plan
In my production plan I made some minor errors,
such as the layout the production plan as it should
have been on the mark scheme, this needed to be
detailed and a workable plan to follow. In my
improvements I will be creating a improved
production plan with dates/ details and deadlines,
this will not only improve the work ethic of the
team but will ensure the work is completed and
deadlines met for the final release of the product.

21. Calendar events
The main keys events that are happening are that the Download festival
and Reading festival are shortly approaching. This means my magazine can
be bought at the festivals which mean more magazines will be sold.
However, it is crucial to make a partnership before the event, with this
comes royalties to pay to the companies for promoting my product and if
the demand isn’t big enough then I will be trading at a loss.
My magazine will start to be released in December of 2017. This will mean
people that get money for Christmas can buy the magazine meaning a
higher profit rate than any other month. Additionally, releasing it in
December means that I can do a first edition special. Meaning I can fill the
magazine up with the biggest things that happened over the year as a one
off, this will promote the magazine and more people will buy it as it shows
the entire year and not just a month.
22. The difference between legal and ethical issues differs from the division between
the core areas of law and ethics; law controls what people can and cannot do,
while ethics are moral standards that govern what people should or should not
do. Legal and ethical issues arise frequently, and are commonly encountered in
certain fields such as medicine, healthcare and politics. In some instances, legal
regulations prohibit people from carrying out certain tasks, such as administering
life-saving support, that are considered morally permissible actions. Also it can
also cost the company millions of pounds if they get into this situation as they
could be sued. If the company does end up being sued it can resort into bad
reputation and will be hard for them to gain trust of there readers if they were
giving false information about a certain topic. Furthermore not only will they loose
their readers trust but it will be very hard for the company to start making profit.
Ethical & Legal Issues.

The following slides will consider what is important for my magazine to implement such as
the privacy of certain topics and accuracy which needed to be seriously taken into
consideration. If this is not met the company would be facing a massive downfall of
reputation and finance.
23. Ethical & Legal Issues (Continued II)
Source:
https://www.ipso.co.uk/editors-code-of-practice/
My magazine needs to be ensure that their privacy policy is up to the standard of my
publisher set other wise they could be facing legal issues and in worse case sued. If the
magazine does not provide this privacy policy in their content whether it be an interview or a
story then not only will it give the magazine bad reputation on how well they can be trusted
to put out public information of private info such as to put photos of an artist with out their
consent. My magazine needs to ensure this privacy policy is kept up to my publishers
regulations, this may include the smallest of things such as something's full name or age. As
said before if this is not for filled then the company could be in court with the artist to sue
them for disobeying the privacy policy or using a photo or any other material without their
consent.
24. Ethical & Legal Issues (Continued III)
Source:
https://www.ipso.co.uk/editors-code-of-practice/
My magazine needs to be ensure none of their journalists engage in any inappropriate
actions on a famous artist, this could include harassment or intimidation. If this does happen
then not only my magazine but my publisher as well can be taken to court and sued for
violent behavior towards the artist. If this does happen the editor needs to make sure he/she
does not publish this information and keep it private as this would brake the privacy policy.
25. Risk Assessment
There are 2 sections of the risk assessment the first is that there is a
photography risk as photos used without consent can cause serious legal
problems and may even result in the company being shut down. The second
is a software assessment, if the software is not used properly or been used
illegal for profit it can also be taken to court. When using a software using the
right controls is key for example not holding the shift key down to scale a
photo keeps it dimness, if not holding shift it will warp the image.
26. Desktop Risk Assessment
First we need to open our photoshop document. There's two ways to do this file new or cmd+N to create a
new document. After this is done we need to chose the size we want to make our magazine. Most typically its
A4 (2480pxx3508px) this is done by using the drop down and selecting “international paper "make sure the
resolution is on 300 DPI or the magazine wont look as clean and HD as it is. although this is already set by
photoshop. After this is done u will be greeted with a A4 white background. This is just the base layer so don’t
worry. There will be a padlock next to the layer this will make the layer rasterized and then we can change the
colour of our background. In the magazine I used I resulted to a midnight black background (pure black)
Double click the padlock and it will
turn into a layer so we can change
the colour
There is a couple of ways that we can change the colour of the layer the
easiest way to do it is press alt+backspace. If it doesn't’t do anything
press the X key and it should change from white to black (this is only if
you want a black or white background). The other way and the slightly
longer way is to double click on the layer and go to the option “colour
overlay” and then select the colour you are wanting.
27. Data Protection Act 1998
The Data Protection Act protects any personal information and how personal information is used within
business
My magazine will be accurate of
information about artists, big or
small stories or any other thing that
may be in my magazine I will make
sure everything is 100% accurate.
Additionally, my magazine articles
are not only accurate but politically
correct, ethically and religiously
accurate as if its not I could deal a
big loss towards the magazine and
and the publisher
28. Conclusion
In conclusion from the information gathered and
collected within the Survey Monkey and the
Witness Statement I have greatly improved my final
product. This process shows the importance of
gaining other opinions and how important the
audience input is. I have now tailored and altered
by magazine to better fit my demographics based
on the feedback received. I have also learnt’ how
much legal and ethical regulations can affect work
but the importance of respecting them and abiding
by them. This has all allowed me to improve my
work and knowledge of this topic.
