4. Aims and Objectives
What is the aim of the campaign?
To bring all the fans of the most famous bands in that genre
together and have a good time and to enjoy good music.
What is it promoting?
It is promoting the American summer, metal festival where all the
biggest ,metal rock bands perform in front of millions of people.
Launch new product?
This festival has been going on since the 1990s and continues to
bring in thousands, or yet millions of people.
Increase sales?
The poster has been created to increase sales for the people who
run the festival so many people can go on to the concert.
Increases brand awareness?
If some bands aren't well known warped tour will help them
increases their popularity and play for thousands of people and
get thousand more listeners. Additionally if brand/ companies
aren't well know it helps to boost their awareness and they could
get more popular.
Is the advertising campaign aim directly to sell or is it also to
create awareness and inform?
The aim of this advertising campaign is to sell and also create
awareness for the festival. But due to its massive popularity and
social media, fans already know when the festival is and pre book
their tickets.
5. Target Audience
• Maslow (interests)
• Katz
• Hartley (Age, gender, class)
• Socio-Economic needs (lifestyle)
• Psychographics– Personality? Stereotypes surrounding
the reader? (lifestyle)
• Spending Power
At Warped Tour festival they are a Varity of age groups.
Which mainly range from the late teens to early twenties.
Additionally in my poster of inspiration its clean and it
attracts people to that age group due to the cartoon
summer feel. Also using a cartoon vector which was hand
made shows that time has been put into making this line
up and not just put a background and some text.
6. Target audience: Maslow
The Maslow theory is “the
hierarchy of needs” these
include people like social
climbers and explores,
these to people are the
most common people to
go to festivals as they
want to be higher up on
the social chain and some
want to explore different
types of music and their
atmosphere.
7. Target audience: Hartley
In Hartley's theory everything is judged on 3 main areas of society:
• Age
• Gender
• Class
These 3 things are what make up his theory. For example below we see a table ranging
from A to E and this depicts are social hierarchy. At the festival “Warped Tour” the main
age target audience is between the late teens to early twenties, as at this age most
people have gone past their “phase” and because they still listen to this music it means
they still like that genre of music.
In gender wise men will go as they have a higher chance of enjoying that
certain type of music. Additionally women will go to these concerts as of the
“star appeal” (explain on later slide.) this is why girls go as they want to see
their idols perform live and maybe have a chance to meet them.
Class is out of the question as anyone from any class can enjoy this genre of
music, this helps the festival's and society as it brings everyone together no
matter what class they are.
Soico-economic needs:
The main people that will be attending the festival will be in the category of D1
and E as they would typically be students on on a low salary. This means they
will have a low spending power and will struggle to afford expensive things
such as festival tickets, I will be making my tickets manageable for these
people.
8. Psychographics
The main people that will be attending these festivals will fall into the explorer category as
they tend to be young people that are students r in their early 20s also they have lots of
energy so they will be going to release that energy at the festivals. Some of these people
could be people that are going out a lot and have a busy life style.
The main people that will
not be attending will fall
into the category of
resigned as they are very
strict, older and have very
slow life styles.
9. Representation
In this poster there is equality and no band is written bigger
or smaller meaning they are all the same relevance.
Additionally there are no physical people on the poster.
Meaning they care less about the people who are there and
more about the music and the atmosphere.
Stereotypical people going to these concerts will wear all
sorts of clothing, but most likely will be band merchandise or
summer clothing due to the American heat in the summer.
Although there is no female/male gaze there is another sort
of gaze as if there are a band the certain person likes and
they see them in this list then it makes them want to go
more than they already want to, additionally if there are
multiple bands on the same line up they person likes then it
increases their chance more of going.
In the poster there is a comic graphic that has been made in
adobe illustrator or Photoshop and connotes that the
festival is very lade back and relaxed but has its gory side
and if we look closer into the image the surface has long hair
and tattoos which is most common with singers in this
genre.
Most people attending this festival will be in the range of 17-
25, there is a chance younger people will be there but may
be classed as “fake fans” and are just in the “phase” this is
why this age range goes as they are out of that phase but
continue to listen to them.
10. Campaign Message
Is there a slogan? What is the message?
The message of the poster is that it mainly attracts males as of the colors and
the horror/ gore of the concept art on the poster. The poster/ company who
run warped tour do not have a slogan or any type of selling line as fans done
need a slogan or anything to know what it is
The selling points of this poster are the names of the bands and the sponsors
in the black bar, these show the selling points as the bigger brands and the
bigger bands will sell more tickets and make more money
Choice of media?
Print and broadcast on social media this attracts twice as many people to the
concert as there are more people on social media that look for concerts than
going round finding posters. Additionally its easier for people to order their
tickets online as they need to click a single link and they are directed to
where they can order their tickets
11. Print based Advert
The main advertisement for my festival was done by
ether social media or posters. The main promoting
used by warped tour is social media. As once the bands
have be confirmed on the line up, they post it on the
warped tour page, lets take instagram for example. The
warped tour page will post it on their official page and
the bands used in the line up will repost this image and
say they are touring, additionally band members will
also repost the image, so they can make sure everyone
knows that they will be attending this festival.
Additionally using a hashtag will help spread the word.
Also the warped tour company will be producing
merchandise to sell to people before and during the
festival to promote it as much as they can do people
will go. Their large following of fans millions of people
will be wanting to attend this huge yearly experience.
Here in this image we can see that they over over 1
million follower. And this is only on one social outlet.
Meaning their wide range of fans across all social
medias mean a lot of fans will be interesting into going
to this event.

The ASA stands for advertising standards authority. There job is to make sure that everything is legal, decent, honest
and truthful. If not these are the people that if everything is not right could be getting sued with the magazine
The Advertising Standards Authority is the UK’s independent regulator of advertising across all media. they apply the
Advertising Codes, which are written by the Committees of Advertising Practice. Their work includes acting on
complaints and proactively checking the media to take action against misleading, harmful or offensive
advertisements. ASA have big competitors such as CAP on which do the ASA.
These legal issues are very important for everything that happens to promote things or to run a business, as if there
are copyrighted images used in this posters and is being used for profit gain, then they can be sued and taken to court
and many things can happen.
There are many aspects to the legal and ethical side of a audio visual advert. Everything from the clothes to the music.
For example using a spefic song without the artists permission could interfere with their copyright of the social,
meaning legal action can take place and they could be sued. This is the same with clothes, products etc. as it could
effect the company. The littlest things need to be checked so the company doesn't’t get into trouble.
Using offensive language in a audio visual advert could cause unsettling as some people find cursing very offensive
and get very hurt by it. This not only could effect the person viewing it but more importantly the business as it shows
a level of un professionalism. There's a lot of things that can end the company in big trouble so they have to tread
very carefully as anything they do could be frowned apon.
13. Regulatory Bodies
• Regulatory bodies- organizations set up by Government with responsibility to monitor, guide
and control various industry sectors in the interests of protecting consumers.
• The ASA stands for advertising standards authority. There job is to make sure that
everything is legal, decent, honest and truthful. If not these are the people that if everything
is not right could be getting sued with the magazine

All these regularity bodies apply to my print advertising because companies such as ipso will help
protect your company and help you stop getting into any legal trouble such as copy right.

14. Method
The festival starts to advertise themselves around 4 or 5 months
before so they make sure people will see the post and get
tickets. Warped tour is advertised in many different ways, it gets
into magazines, posters, articles and many more things so it is
widely advertised and brings in thousands of people every year.
In my magazine I did in unit 13, I used the magazine “Kerrang!”
and this is linked with warped tour and, warped tour was put
into this magazine so readers can see, as they are part of the
same genre.
When marketing my festival I will be making sure I have a social media profile on every
social media available. This is because in this day in age millions and millions of people
are using social media, this means millions will see it.
15. Audio- Visual Adverts: Contents
• Aims and objectives
• Target audience
• Representation
• Campaign message
• Print based advert
• Legal and ethical
• Method
16. Aims and objectives
The aim and objectives of an audio and visual
advert is so people can see what they are going to,
for example a drone shot of the festival from last
year, to show this is what its like, and the audio is
to cover what will be at the show and where you
can get tickets. The main aim of doing this is so
people can imagine themselves into that crowd
they just saw and they want to be able to feel the
same so it makes them want to attend to the
festival.

17. Target Audience
• Maslow (interests)
• Katz
• Hartley (Age, gender, class)
• Socio-Economic needs (lifestyle)
• Psychographics– Personality? Stereotypes surrounding

up and not just put a background and some text.
18. Maslow's theory
The people attending my festival will be in the D-E section
as from the videos that vans produce they always show
that the people attending are in that bracket due to their
age range that they appeal to.
This is the hierarchy of
needs and how social
media fulfil them
(left). this also links in
which the socio-
economic needs table
(right) this two
combined make up
the key for making a
good magazine, and
publishing it.

ws-hierarchy-of-needs/
19. Katz theory
Katz theory was that it is important to inform
and educate people on the certain topic. For
my festival I will be educating people on new
bands that they have may of not heard of
before. Also Katz theory is also to build a
personal relationship with ether the band or
the artists. This can be from a personal
experience they have both been through and
their music tells how they dealt with it, or some
other issues such as racism etc.
20. Hartley's theory
Hartley's theory was divided
into groups as of people and
their social hierarchy, from the
photo its divided into A,B,C,D,E
and each one represents a
class in the social hierarchy.
Students and causal workers
will be in the catorgey of E as
they are not earning low
amount of money. With my
festival I will be aiming to
target people from E-C1, this
means I need to make the price
affordable for them
21. Psychographics People are
split up into 6
different
areas
depending on
what their
personality is.
Each one is
different and
they seek all
different
things in life,
in my festival I
will try to
target all of
them, but I
will be mainly
focusing on
the strugglers
and explorers.
22. Representation
The most common people to be attending warped tour will be in the range of
18-25, younger people wont be going as it not advised and the heavy
atmosphere they might not be able to adapt to it. additionally older people
wont be going as they will be into older bands that were around when they
were kids. Due to the heat of warped tour they would be dressed in anything
from band merchandise to bright clothing, even the bands may be topless
due to the staggering heat of America. For example in the image below there
is a screenshot from the advert showing the sort of things a band member
could wear while performing.
23. Representation (Continued)
As seen in the images below the band are wearing “summer” clothing additionally the
people attending the festivals are wear short sleeve, shorts or jeans, as from the first
screenshot of the crowd most people attending will be female. For many reason, but
one of few is of the female gaze as they might have a crush on a band member and
want to see them live and maybe have a chance to meet them or hi-five them. This is
properly the main reason why girls girl to these concerts,
24. Campaign Message

Also the warped tour company will be producing merchandise to
sell to people before and during the festival to promote it as
much as they can do people will go.
26. Regulatory bodies
Ofcom is the communications regulator in the UK. We regulate the TV,
radio and video-on-demand sectors, fixed-line telecoms (phones),
mobiles and postal services, plus the airwaves over which wireless
devices operate.
When making an audio-visual you need to hold a license to broadcast
it on tv, although this is a good idea and will reach millions of people
the payback may be lower than getting your advert on platforms such
as youtube. This is where OFCOM comes in as you need to go through
them to obtain your license to broadcast.
OFCOM runs all the adverts and programs on the every main channel
expect from the BBC as they use their own brand of licensing and
broadcasting.

The adverts were placed all over the world. This is not just
because of social media, but they will mainly be put around
America since it is in America. But some people will fly out to
come to the festival.
The festival starts to advertise themselves around 4 or 5 months

30. Poster and the audio-visual LINK
together
The poster and the audio visual link via having
there logo in the corner, also if there was a
recent poster released and a audio visual after
they would link by using the same bands in both
and using connotations form both to create the
link. In my poster I will be having a variety of
colours and it will be based over 2 days, on
these days artists will be performing non stop.
31.
32. Proposal
In the proposal I will be stating what I will be doing for my festival poster such as what
the campaign message is, colour scheme and target audience.
33. Name ideas:
- Amplified
-Dead Riff
-NoteCrawl
-DeathPitt
-Death Crawl
Color Scheme: in my color
scheme I will be mainly
using black, additionally for
my small vector I will be
using the colors need for the
animals and skull I will be
creating.
Frequency of release: in promoting
the festival I will be hoping to
publish as many posters as I can to
get it promoted even if its getting
the file and the public to print them
off and stick them round their area.
Logo Designs: in my logo design I
will try and go near what the
festival of inspiration is, with the
colors and the style but I will “jazz
it” up a little and use maybe a
tattoo style or a more metal core
style of logo
Campaign message: bringing people together and
letting people that they re not alone on what
ever they are going through.
Marketing of the product.
When I market my festival I
will be advertising it all over
social media, websites and
word of mouth.
Target audience: stertypically the people going will
often wear black and have some sort of chain ether
on their jeans or on their top, addiotnally people
going to this festival wont be in the A class catorgy of
the social needs table but they would be lower as of
the age range and their place in society. In my festival
the target audience will be around 18-25.
Music Festival
Poster
36. Concept This will be the concept form my
illustration regarding my festival, I
will be using the wolf as it
represents guardianship, ritual,
loyalty and spirit, and the wolf is
often quick and firm in emotional
attachments meaning they often
trust their own instincts
And I will be using a eagle as it
represent courage and strength
and to exceed your own limits
and to be the best person you
want to be and learn how to
accept yourself.
I will be finally using a skull as it
represents the genre of music
and how its know as “death core”
or “death metal”

37. Hand Drawn Drafts
This is my hand drawn draft and I do this because I will be using the poster of inspiration to
create my own, I drew these out so I had a rough idea on how I wanted my poster to look. I
did it rough as I knew what I want to do, I then put it into Photoshop and did my graphic
drafts which r on the next slide
38. Graphic Layout
I have made a graphic layout before doing my actual poster as I can get a brief idea on how
I am going to make my poster, I have tested three different ways and I will be using the first
one on the left as my main template of making my magazine. In the scroll I have will be
having the title of my magazine and in the black bar I will be butting where all my sponsors
are and behind I will lower the opacity and I will be all the attending bands name so people
know what bands are attending to the festival.
39. Draft Logo Design
On this I will be using one of these two styles. I will ether go for
the clean and discrete design or the old style tattoo traditional
design. I will be going for the one on the left down below as it
caters to my style of poster.
40. Analysis of Print AdvertLogo:
Vans run warped tour
and are mainly
powered by journeys
which is a big music
company that sorts out
all the festivals around
the world to this genre.
Band titles:
In this it doesn't’t matter
who may be the biggest
band or have the most
followers. Its about
everyone coming
together and enjoying
good music, this is why
they are all the same size
font.
New sponsor:
They are adverting a
new part of the
festival that people
can go to which is
sponsored by on e of
their main sponsors.
Sponsor list: all the
people sponsoring
the festival are being
advertised at the
bottom of the poster
so people can see
who is sponsoring.
41. Advert Of InspirationLogo: I will be
repeating this
logo as a
template, I will
be using the
outline and
making my own
logo.
Illustration: I will
be repeating this
as I will be
having an
illustration that I
will be making
myself, I have
planned it and
will be doing a
design for my
poster.
Band names: I
will be making
the band names
the same size as
they are all
equal and are
there to enjoy
music. And bring
everyone
together.
Sponsors: I will
be repeating the
black sponsor
bar at the
bottom.

44. Calendar events and launch dates
The launch date of my poster will be a couple of
months before the actually festival so I can “hype”
the festival and it gives time for the tickets to sell.
This will allow the people going to prepare
themselves for that date meaning they know what
date it will be on so they can make sure they are
free on them 2 days. Also the actual launch date of
my festival will be the 13th and 14th of august as at
this point everyone is on their summer holiday so a
lot of people will be attending.
45. Audio-visual advertisement
I plan to do an audio- visual advert for my festival, when doing it I
need to plan for what shots I will be getting etc. my plan take video
of the concert happening and drone shots of the crowd while the
music is playing, this will show what the festival looks like. My
audio visual will be like a teaser trailer for the festival as it makes
people think about it.
When editing my audio visual I will be using premier pro as it is the
best software to use for video editing.
My audio visual will be distributed a month before the tickets go
on sale, as it create “hype” for the festival.
46. Campaign message
My campaign message is that as people are
getting together they know that they aren't
alone on what ever they may be going through,
weather it’s a physical or mental disability. They
can stand together and over come it.
47. Equipment and Cost
The cost of not only equipment but also
software is a big deal as profit is needed
to create sales and income. For my
poster to run well I will need the
following things:
-office space
-laptops (macbook pro)
-software (adobe collection)
-desks
-chairs
-a high quality printer
-cameras (a7s II)
-pen
-high quality paper
This will all total up as if I have 3 sony a7s
II it will cost me over £5,000 just on
cameras

My poster needs to be ensure none of their journalists engage in any inappropriate actions
on a famous artist, this could include harassment or intimidation. If this does happen then
not only my poster.
57. Data Protection Act 1998
The Data Protection Act protects any personal information and how personal information is used within
business
My poster will be accurate of
information about artists, big or
small stories or any other thing that
may be in my poster will make sure
everything is 100% accurate.
Additionally my poster articles are
not only accurate but politically
correct, ethically and religiously
accurate as if its not I could deal a
big lose towards the poster and and
the publisher
59. Calendar events
60. Location and scheduling of
advertisements
The location of my festival will be in Hyde park
(London) as this is the center point in London is
accessible from anywhere, when doing my
advertising, I will be using social media and print
my poster out and spreading around London
and neighboring cities. This will mean I will be
attracting people not only from all over the UK
but over the world as social media has a massive
influence nowadays.
61.
62. Proposal
In the proposal I will be stating things I will be doing for my festival poster. This
includes things such as my target audience and my colour scheme etc.
65. Concept This will be the concept form my
illustration regarding my festival, I
will be using the wolf as it
represents guardianship, ritual,
loyalty and spirit, and the wolf is
often quick and firm in emotional
attachments meaning they often
trust their own instincts
And I will be using a eagle as it
represent courage and strength
and to exceed your own limits
and to be the best person you
want to be and learn how to
accept yourself.
I will be finally using a skull as it
represents the genre of music
and how its know as “death core”
or “death metal”

66. Hand Drawn Drafts
This is my hand drawn draft and I do this because I will be using the poster of inspirtation to
create my own, I drew these out so I had a rough idea on how I wanted my poster to look. I
did it rough as I knew what I want to do, I then put it into Photoshop and did my graphic
drafts which r on the next slide
68. Draft Logo Design
On this I will be using one of these two styles. I will ether go for
the clean and discrete design or the old style tattoo tradionbal
design. I will be going for the one on the left down below as it
caters to my style of poster.
69. My Chosen Font Style
The font I have chosen is called “the dark” and
this font creates a metal/rock look. It also has
some pieces of derbies coming off which gives
the effect of how loud the music is. also I have
used my 13 font for my poster.
This font relates as it has a hardcore grunge look
so it fits in well with the style of music that will
be playing at the festival
70. Colour scheme
My writing will be an off black and the background
will be an image taken by me. I have chosen this
colour as it will be very easy to see as my
background will have a white wash.
My colour scheme is a mix of all types of colours
although the main colour will be black as it will be
standing out the most on my festival poster. The
other colours of my festival poster will be from all
the sponsorship logos.

My festival will be in the center of London so it
can attract as much attention as it needs to. I
will be hosting my festival in Hyde park.
Following this I will be posting up my poster in a
15km radius from the festival grounds. This is so
I can attract as many people as I can for this
festival.
77. Software Risk Assessment
First we need to open our photoshop document. There's two ways to do this file new or cmd+N to create a
new document. After this is done we need to chose the size we want to make our magazine. Most typically its
A4 (2480pxx3508px) this is done by using the drop down and selecting “international paper "make sure the
resolution is on 300 DPI or the magazine wont look as clean and HD as it is. although this is already set by
photoshop. After this is done you will be greeted with a A4 white background. This is just the base layer so
don’t worry. There will be a padlock next to the layer this will make the layer rasterized and then we can
change the colour of our background. In the magazine I used I resulted to a midnight black background (pure
black) Double click the padlock and it will
turn into a layer so we can change
the colour
There is a couple of ways that we can change the colour of the layer the
easiest way to do it is press alt+backspace. If it doesn't’t do anything
press the X key and it should change from white to black (this is only if
you want a black or white background). The other way and the slightly
longer way is to double click on the layer and go to the option “colour
overlay” and then select the colour you are wanting.

92. Proposal
In the proposal I will be stating things I will be doing for my festival poster. This
includes things such as my target audience and my colour scheme etc.
93.
94. Feedback
After my pitch I did a survey monkey
and I asked questions about my poster
and how my pitch went. These were
my results. In total I had 6 questions
and 8 responses.
95. In my first question I asked what people thought of my pitch., in an overall rating of 10 I
achieved a 7 in my pitch meaning it was up to a high quality and a high standard.
Feedback Continued
96. Feedback Continued II
In my second question I asked if people liked my festival poster. 1 person said no, 5 said
they liked the poster, and 2 people said it was alright but could do with some work.
Unfortunately they were unable to state what could of been changed.
97. Feedback Continued III
In my third question I asked if my slides had a lot of detail. 71% of
people agreed that my slides were full of detail and had enough
content in.
98. Feedback Continued IV
In this question I asked
if my poster line up
was good enough for a
festival. And most
people agreed that
they are really good
line ups.
100. Feedback Continued VI
In this part of the
survey I asked wither
people liked the logo I
created. 100% of
people said in some
form that they liked
the logo.
101. Hand Drawn Drafts
This is my hand drawn draft and I do this because I will be using the poster of inspirtation to

103. Photo used
Location: Spain, Majorca
This photo was taken while I was on holiday during the summer term of school. It was in
the morning as the sun was rising.
104. Location Reece
When taking the photo for me to use on my poster, I had little to worry. I didn’t need to
worry about any copyright as it was my own image, the only hazard that was their was falling
off the balcony but it was in a hotel so it was all well kept safety in mind.
105. Photo Risk Assessment (Watermark)
Water marks are very important for security and certain
guide lines. The most known watermark and stock image
company is “shutterstock” these images are water
marked protected so people can not use the images for
commercial use they are own for personal use. Here is an
example of shutter stock images. They have a website
were u can search any type of image that is available,
make an account and subscribe to a monthly or yearly
contract to get royalty free images for commercial use.
106. Risk assessment
There was not
much to fill out
in my risk
assessment as
there was not
much to do as I
was on holiday
in Spain, in a
hotel so no
permission was
needed and
there was no
transport
needed etc etc.

change the colour of our background.
112. Witness Statement
In witness statement it states what things I have done well and some things I need to change,
the things highlighted in yellow are the things I will be changing to improve my festival poster.
113. Final Advertisement
This is my final piece for
my poster
advertisement. I have
made a logo for my
poster that hasn’t been
seen before. Also I have
made this to advertise
my upcoming event
that will be hosted in
august of 2018.
114. Comparison to existing products
My final product compared to my inspiration poster is close as I have copied a number of
things from the inspiration for example I took the sponsor bar from the bottom of the
poster. therefore I used the illustrative look so I created my own logo and I took my own
photo. The difference between my poster and theirs is that they used a simple background
and I used a sunset photo with a white wash. Also they have lots of people performing
where i only have a quarter of that amount.
115. Changes
Part of my
improvements on
my festival poster
was that I needed to
add a location on
where it was going
to be held.
116. Conclusion
In conclusion to my unit I have discovered that i
enjoyed making my festival poster. If I were to
do this again I would change some things to
make it look better, such as the logo design, I
wish I had more time to make it better. Also I
enjoyed researching about other festivals and
creating my own and finding out what goes into
creating a festival.
117. Final Poster
This relates to my
campaign message as in
my logo it shows that all
the animals are coming
together and and letting
people that they re not
alone on what ever they
are going through.
