Here’s an example of how the Whiteboard works in a ‘Trauma’
environment.
Patient is admitted. Opportunity to clerk patient on Bluespier if required.
Junior Doctor creates simple hand over notes and attaches photos of any open fractures etc.
Diagnosis, any co-morbidities and mechanism of injury is then selected for real time coding.
The accurate and up to date clinical record is instantly available to those involved in the patient’s
care, and their location is clearly visible - they can be easily tracked by Trauma Coordinators, even
with many outliers, and do not run the risk of being ‘lost’.
Consultants use the legible and complete notes with results, as well as the visual traffic light system,
to agree care plans and prioritise surgery. This is recorded with a few mouse clicks on Bluespier.
Patient is scheduled for surgery through simple 'drag and drop’ with the record updated immediately.

simple ‘at a glance’ visual of their theatre list and Theatre Managers an easy way to effectively
manage

‘status’, ‘days in’ and ‘ward’

The Critical Outreach Team Board–

Here’s an example of how the Whiteboard works in a different
environment – as a vital tool for the Critical Outreach Team.
Patient is admitted to a ward and added to the Whiteboard. If patient is transferred out of hours,
the board gives clinicians easy access to all the information about the care of that patient .
The Critical Outreach team have the ability to record initial diagnosis, comorbidities and hand over
notes on Bluespier. Information is updated in real-time . The accurate and up to date clinical record
is instantly available to those involved in the care– including the referring consultant and Critical
Outreach team.
If the patient is moved to another ward, but still under care of ITU, they can be easily tracked by the
Outreach team so they do not get ‘lost’.
Multidisciplinary decisions are easier with easy Bluespier access to the patient record and decisions
are visible to all involved in the care of the patient.
