•Friedrich Wilhelm August Froebel (1782-1852)
•German educator and psychologist
•founder of the KINDERGARTEN system
•one of the greatest contributors of the 19th century to the science of
education
•laid the foundation for modern education system
•Froebel’s first kindegarten - Blackenburg, Germany (1837)

3. FROEBEL’S KINDERGARTEN
• system of pre-school
• children are taught through creative play, social interaction and
natural expressions
• Kindergarten means ‘ Children’s garden’
• children in school to grow as freely as flowers in a garden
• compared a school with a garden, child with a seedling, teacher
with a gardener

• Education is necessary for the complete development of
child
