2. Research
• The things that I think I did best with my research was looking at the
different types of magazine and what the difference is with different styles
of magazine and what guitar magazines do and how they are laid out and
how they look. I also think that I did a good job with my guitar research
because I found out a lot of detail that I didn’t know before about the
affinity telecaster, like what sort of wood the body uses. I think that I could
of done better with my double page spread research, I didn’t look at many
double page spreads and I think that impacted my final product, because. I
hadn't seen the different styles that a magazine can have and I ended up
settling on a newspaper style double page spread when I think that I could
of done something more creative if I had seen some more styles. I think
that I could of also learnt more about how a magazine should be laid out. I
had my friends show me what should be the biggest text on the front
cover so that it corelated with the picture.
3. Planning
• I think that my front cover planning was very good because I ended up
following it almost exactly how I planned it but I moved some text with
some input from my friends. I think that I stuck by the theme that I
wanted the whole time by having a minimalistic look and not making it
look too complex and making it easy to read. I think that I could of made
my colour scheme more accurate because I didn’t stick to it at all. I ended
up using brown red and white as my three main colours which I never
planned. I also think that I should of planned more for the artist side of my
magazine as I only planned the guitar part but when I got to making the
magazine I realised that I wanted to more about artists because it was
easier to get pictures for and there was more to talk about in the articles. I
think that I should of also planned things such as the price of the magazine
and what text that I was going to put on the front page, rather than having
to think about it at the time because that wasted a lot of time that I could
of used towards making the front cover better.
4. Time Management
• I think that I time managed really well. I managed to do all my planning on
time and finished slightly early. I got onto my production in time for when I
wanted too. However I think that I spent a bit long on my production. I
went one and a half days over. I didn’t account for my second double page
spread because I didn’t think about it much when planning and it ended
up taking longer than I expected because I struggled to lay it out how I
wanted. I think that I could of spent more time on my second double page
spread in planning as I finished my planning early. If I had more time to
produce my work, then I would of got pictures in the studio with my guitar.
I couldn’t with the time I had because my guitar case was being used so I
couldn’t bring it into college. I also think that I could of made the look of
the articles a bit more unique. They looked a lot like news paper articles
and I think that I could of laid them out in a more creative way than I did.
