A talk from the Work Track at AWE USA 2017 - the largest conference for AR+VR in Santa Clara, California May 31- June 2, 2017.
Bjorn Schwerdtfeger (AR-Experts.de) & Stefan Werrlich (BMW AG): AR at BMW - Assessing People, Technology and Business
AR has an enormous potential, as we already now. At a car maker, we work on a real world scenario in the real world (not in the lab) and try it out in formative and summative test with a significant number of people - to develop a scalable, mature solution, which works with the people, the technology and the business case. Lately we made some great progress.

4. THE DESIGN OF EVERYDAY THINGS.
Seite 4
Designing an object to be simple and clear takes at least twice as long as
the usual way.
It requires concentration at the outset on how a clear and simple system would
work, followed by the steps required to make it come out that way - steps
which are often much harder and more complex than the ordinary ones. It also
requires relentless pursuit of that simplicity even when obstacles appear,
which would seem to stand in the way of that simplicity.

Each time a new technology comes along, new designers make the same
horrible mistakes as their predecessors. Technologists are not noted for
learning from the errors of the past. They look forward, not behind, so they
repeat the same problems over and over again...
The most egregious failures always come from the developers of the most
recent technologies.
