This position paper examines how corporations can effectively implement digital learning strategies. It is based on surveys and interviews with 68 multinational corporations. While digital learning currently accounts for 20% or less of corporate training budgets, most companies expect this to increase to 60% within the next two years. However, many digital learning programs lack impact and engagement. Common challenges include outdated learning management systems, a lack of technical support, and no involvement of IT in decision-making. The paper argues that to maximize the benefits of digital learning, companies must first understand employees' knowledge needs and map existing technical capabilities before developing learning strategies. They must also focus on creating enjoyable, high-impact blended learning programs through varied methodologies. Change management will also be

Building Skills for the Changing Workforce: AWS Global Digital Skills StudyFairTechInstitute
Covering 12 countries globally (Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States), this study surveyed employers and workers to understand the benefits of digital skills training, the barriers to training and the gap in digital skills training actions undertaken in organizations and among workers to meet future digital skill needs in the economy.
The study developed an indicator, the AWS Global Digital Skills Index, which explores the global training shortfall – referring to the gap between digital skills training efforts in organizations and among workers, and the identified training needs. Given that skills take time to build, employers and workers need to be forward-looking in their training efforts. However, this Index finds a significant global training shortfall: digital skills training efforts are not currently sufficient to meet evolving business needs.

Audi trained over 6,500 employees in firefighting using interactive e-learning modules that told stories of realistic emergency situations. The modules covered topics like fire safety basics, using CO2 fire extinguishers, and dealing with welding fires. Employees had to complete activities in the modules, like planning escape routes, and pass tests to show their understanding. This online training allowed Audi to efficiently train large numbers of employees compared to traditional classroom sessions.

of marketing resources. Formulating such competitive strategies fundamentally
involves recognizing relationships between elements of the marketing mix (e.g.,

(i.e., industry structure in the language of economics).

der constant pressure to retrain,” said
Michael Skala, Head of the Allianz In-
ternal Academy. Alongside updates
made throughout the year, Allianz
implements four releases annually
with major changes. Until now, em-
ployees have undertaken classroom
training in ABS over the course of se-
veral days. Quite apart from the time
lost between training and practice,
this has the major disadvantage of
knowledge degradation. Employees
only retain part of what is learned.
Allianz is reorganizing; since 2006
it has transferred a variety of legacy
systems to a single business plat-
form used by 10,000 claims advisors
and consultants. Which means an
ongoing need for qualiication. After
rather limited experiences with e-
learning, a pilot project has pointed
the way forward with a blend of
classroom training and e-learning.

New ways of learning:

Allianz therefore sought a user-
friendly, simple and intuitive solu-
tion; one that enabled them to create
digital learning modules in-house,
quickly and cost-efectively. Learn-
ing should be embedded in work
processes, and limited to what is
actually required to enable the em-
ployee to perform efectively.

A pilot project with two goals
Between May and September 2016
Allianz produced learning modules
with a focus on both “self-learning”
and “the classroom training and
transfer phases”. The beneit was that
they could generate training and
participant documentation, together
with e-learning, in a single pass. They
broke the rigid separation between
classroom training and e-learning
through the integration of e-learn-
ing modules in both learning sce-
narios and electronic reference ma-
terials to be used after training. The
feedback has been positive. “Em-
ployees are asking why we didn’t in-
troduce this some time ago,” Michael
Skala reported.
