2. Adobe After Effects CS4 After Effects is a visual manipulation and special effects program used by professionals worldwide. It has many powerful tools and was an invaluable part of my project

After Effects - Pros Keylight– very powerful tool for green-screening, even with a green-screen as imperfect as mine it worked well Being able to pre-compose thing allowed for accurate real-time previews of the effects applied Professional standard grading can be applied in a very customary fashion
5. After Effects - Cons Was very daunting at first until I had fully learned the programme – steep learning curve and lots of terminology to remember. Time consuming Needs allot of RAM to run effectively, lagged on my system Exports are of a very large file size
6. Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9.0 Sony Vegas is a professional style editing software with a very user friendly interface and powerful manipulation and rendering features

Sony Vegas - Pros Vegas is much easier to use than final cut and adobe premiere, after trying all three I preferred this on for it’s simplicity of interface without compromising on features Very responsive preview feature Can handle very large file sizes effortlessly File manager also makes adding videos quick and easy
9. Sony Vegas - Cons The program has only very limited audio manipulation features Preview window is quite small
10. Autodesk Maya - 2009 This is a 3D modelling software which I used to create the Nighthawk jet. The software is highly powerful and is used regularly in Hollywood to create high end 3D animation such as in “Iron Man”

Maya - Pros The software has highly advanced animation features which allow the motion of flight to be easily replicated The program will export animations as a .png picture sequence, this saves allot of time when compositing into After Effects Powerful third party plug ins are available such as mental ray
13. Maya - Cons The program is hard to grasp and if it wasn’t for prior knowledge I would have found it very hard to master in the time span I had for the coursework Animations take a long time to render due to the program having to work out lighting changes in each frame etc
