1. EVALUATION
QUESTION 6:
What have you learnt about technologies from the process
of constructing this product?
2. TECHNOLOGY AND
PROGRAMS USED:
Technology
Panasonic HDC-SD100 digital video camera.
Apple Macbook Pro
Programs
Final Cut express
Soundtrack Pro
Garageband
LiveType
Quicktime player 7
3. PANASONIC HDC-SD100
DIGITAL VIDEO CAMERA.
I learnt a lot from using this video camera. This project was only the second piece
of filming I have done. Because of this I had to learn how to operate the video
camera to the best of its abilities and how to optimise the lighting within the shot
it was recording to create the highest quality shot I could.
My first few shots were shaky and poor lighting because I wasn't using the tripod
correctly and I hadn't lit the scene enough I was relying on a low level of natural
light. This taught me that before I shot I had to ensure the camera was completely
steady on the tripod as well as the light in the scene was bright enough to allow the
whole of my shot to look clear and professional.
As a result of this I reshot and retimed my shooting so that the camera was firmly
on the tripod and I was not knocking it, as well as filming on a clear day at lunch
time so the natural light was high.
4. FINAL CUT EXPRESS
Final Cut Express is an editing program available on Apple Macintoshes. This
program allows you to put together a number of shots to create a video, through
transitions and special effects.
This project was the first time I had used final cut so at I was not completely
comfortable with the software, however with practice and watching a number of
tutorials I gained skills and improved them over time so that I could efficiently
edit and create my film opening.
5. SOUNDTRACK PRO
Soundtrack Pro is a audio editing programme. It allows you
to create and edit audio files which can be exported into
final cut express and used within a film.
Again I had never used this software before so I had to learn
how to work the software, eventually I got the hang of the
software and was able to create my soundtrack.
6. GARAGEBAND
Garage band is very similar to Soundtrack Pro, except that
Garage band allows you to record instruments straight to
the software and then export them as audio files.
This is the software I used to create, edit and export my
voiceover. Again I had never used this software before and
again had to learn how to use it.
7. LIVETYPE
LiveType is a complementary programme to Final Cut. It
allows you to create credits and any other videos which
contain text such as title screens and motifs.
This was the first time I had used this software so I watched
a number of tutorial videos to allows myself to create both
my credits and my idents.
