2. Answer to question 2
The back story that I have used for the
double page spread is that she lived
with her mum and she always
encouraged her to make that step and
she did and she is happy now she is
trying to give that message to her
audience.
I think my representation is a positive
one because it not giving out any
negativity it’s telling the audience to
chase their dreams.
I challenge the stereotypes because
you usually have male singers that do
indie or RnB and I used a female
model so I was doing the opposite.
I have a collection of genres in my
magazine and you can see that on my
contents page.
Which social groups have you used?
Teenagers, hip hop, rock, middle class.
Age : 17-29
Gender: Female and male.
Ethnicity: black people
Living at home as a student so they
will be getting money from their
parents.
The messages I have used with my
images are quite fierce simple but still
hold a message, I wanted the model
that I used to look bold and strong so
that she can send a message out there
to my audience. That in a society
today females are seen as a person
who should cook and clean or not
have a job that is highly paid so I used
a female model to divert away from
that subject.
3. I haven’t really used any use of slang
in my journalism, it would have
attracted younger people but I
didn’t use slang.
The ethnicity I have used challenges
the genre rock because it is mainly
white people in the rock industry so I
went against that.
Also the model I have used is not
objectified she looks very fierce and
strong she doesn’t have revealing
clothes on which some women are
in the media industry.
The images I have used on the
contents page represents
something that is edgy and has a
rocky feel to it, so I think that
represents my genre very well.
