2. PROJECT SUMMARY
Qualcomm Technologies Inc
1. LTE-U support.
Team Size: 1
Added support in the Modem for new LTE-U spectrum bands.
Code upgraded to become spec compliant with the latest LTE specification. (256 bands possible.)
Co-ordinated efforts across 13 individual modules in terms of test effort and final deliverables.
2. Network deregistration and PPP clean-up framework.
Team size: 1
Design and develop a new framework to allow Modem to deregister with the network and perform internal PPP cleanup
during operations like operating mode, SIM Refresh, etc.
Coordinated with IMS and Data Services modules for interface related changes.
Supported internal and field testing. Due to functionality change across multiple modules, had to coordinate efforts
across multiple test teams.
3. Single Chip Simultaneous GSM and LTE (SC_SGLTE)
Team size: 2-3
Design and develop a solution to allow modem support for concurrent CS domain on GSM and PS domain on LTE.
Design and develop interface with Policy Manager Module to enable modem to switch behaviour from SGLTE to
CSFB dynamically based on subscription and location.
Designed and developed LTE B39 and GERAN 1850-1880MHz co-existence solution to work around a known hardware
limitation.
Designed and developed Emergency call origination requirement in SGLTE dual stack mode.
Assist in development of new internal state machine to enable Call Manager to handle added complexity.
Assist in debugging and fixing issues observed in internal testing.
Commercialization support.
4. Determination of RAT capability based on SIM
Team Size: 1
Customer requirement to restrict device capability based on subscription and location.
Designed and developed versatile interface to implement the customer policies as dictated by Policy Manager Module.
Debugging and fixing issues observed in internal testing.
Commercialization support.
5. Memory Reduction and Code optimization
Team Size: 1-2
Reduce Multimode memory footprint by nearly 10-15% overall.
o Identify and remove dead code.
o Identify and Replace static data items with dynamically allocated memory per usage.
Make Multimode code multi-thread safe by evaluating potential race conditions and data corruptions.
Consolidate related data items for safe access from other modules in a multithread environment.
Evaluate feasibility of making System determination code multi-thread safe without any major re-architecture.
6. Limited Regional service handling
Team Size: 1
Ensure that all System Determination (SD) algorithms are suspended when NAS reports Limited Regional service.
Ensure that this new design does not impact any external client. i.e. MMODE still communicates same information to
registered clients as before.
Upon subsequent service indication from NAS, ensure SD resumes the suspended algorithm.
3. Debugging and fixing issues observed in internal testing.
Commercialization support.
7. Fusion SVLTE implementation - I and II
Team Size: 3
Adapt MMODE code to run across 2 modems joined together.
Ensure dual-modem behaviour mimics single modem behaviour in all MMODE operations like 1x acquisition
throttling, operating mode change etc.
Design and Implement inter-modem communication for MMSS arbitration to ensure mutual exclusion of conflicting
Radio Access Technologies.
Debugging and fixing issues observed in internal/field testing.
Commercialization support.
8. Enhanced Out Of Service Algorithm (EOOS)
Team Size: 2
Worked closely with the systems team to design a comprehensive algorthm to optimize OOS behaviour.
EOOS provided the OEMs capability to customize every aspect of OOS behaviour.
Implemented the overall framework for both 3GPP and 3GPP2 RATs for world mode targets.
Implemented the 3GPP2 RAT related portion of the requirements.
Supported internal testing and ensured requirement compliance.
Supported Carrier acceptance testing.
9. Intra-band Simultaneous Voice and Data (SVDO)
Team Size: 1
Enable modem to support voice call on 1x and data call on EVDO when both 1x and EVDO systems are in the same
band class.
Evaluate call collisions and call service options for compatibility.
Redesign all hybrid service acquisitions to prioritize SVDO capable system acquisition.
10. Uniform Out Of Service Support (UOOS)
Team Size: 3
Support the UOOS algorithm implemented so far to counter the Broadcom Patent# 6714983
Extend the UOOS algorithm to technologies not yet covered (world mode targets, WLAN, etc.)
Provide Customer support for issues observed in field.
11. HDR in CDMA Power Save (HICPS)
Team Size: 3
Limitations in lower layer modules disallow concurrent operation of HDR and 3GPP RATs.
Design and implement an algorithm to ensure mutual exclusion of HDR and 3GPP RATs.
Optimize for scenario where device is in only (HDR+3GPP) coverage.
Support internal testing
Support Customer issues reported.
12. Miscelleneous
Team Size: NA
Worked closely with developers/testers from various OEMs when debugging critical customer issues.
Worked on BOLT modem chipset bring up.
Implemented carrier specific requirements for Sprint.
Mentored multiple interns and New Hires in the team.
Very good written and verbal communication skills especially regarding the technical aspects.

1. Strategic System Program – Member application (SSP)
Technologies used : MVS, CICS, COBOL, DB2, IDMS
The client system was redeveloped using layered architecture. The back end database was converted from legacy
Network database (IDMS) to Relational database (DB2).
2. Strategic System Program – Data Migration
Technologies used : MVS, COBOL, DB2
The data in the current network database was transformed as per the business rules onto the new data model
implemented in a relational database.
3. HMO – System verification.
Technologies used : MVS, CICS, COBOL, DB2
The updated HMO system of the client was rigorously tested to ensure specification conformance in the new
modifications made to the latest version of the system.

1. Device Driver.
Technologies used: Linux 2.6.12, C
An independent kernel module for interfacing Permedia2V PCI graphics card. The driver allows the user to draw
smooth shaded triangles using FIFO mode by directly mapping onboard registers to memory or by using the device’s
DMA capabilities. It also constituted a custom interrupt handler for DMA interrupt.
