Project details:
Project : 8937, 8x10/8x26 and 8930 targets.
Role : Build & Integration Engineer (Target Team)
Platform : Linux android
Technology : UMTS/GSM/1x/DO
Tools : QXDM, QPST, ATM, Prism, ARIS, Tiberium, E-commander,
MARS, Aggregator, Service Manager.
Duration : May 2014 till date.
(i) 8937 chipset:
Working currently on 8937 chipset. Participated in bring up activities of 8937 in QIPL
for about three weeks. Set up automation testing stations. As of now working on “Android M
upgrade PLs” which is heading for POST CS releases. Making builds, testing, tracking CRs
and commercialization support.
Recently we are created Android N upgrade SOFTWARE PRODUCT. Now it is in
bring up stage. Android N upgrade SP is heading for ES release to customer in next month end.
(ii) 8x10/8x26 chipsets:
Worked on 8x10 and 8x26 chipsets from November 2014 to March 2016. Participated
in bring up activities of 8x10 and 8x26 in Hyderabad(VT-ODC). Set up automation testing
stations here in Hyderabad(VT-ODC) and handled all integration activities independently
including but not limited to making builds, testing, tracking CRs and commercialization
support. Actively worked on customer requests in terms of SBAs and brought them to closure.
8x26 Description:
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8x26 has an average performing CPU with a
maximum clock speed of 1,200.00 MHz. It has 4 core(s), resulting in extremely efficient multi-
tasking when compared to dual core processors. As a result of following the Harvard
architecture, the CPU has a separate Level 1 instruction and data cache leading to a slight
improvement in performance over a unified Level 1 cache. The instruction cache is only used
for storing instructions and executes in a sequential manner. The data cache stores data used
by instructions; the point of access or storage is generally specified by an instruction. This
processor is based on the Reduced Instruction Set Computing (RISC) design strategy enabling
instructions to execute faster, as opposed to the Complex Instruction Set Computing (CISC)
design strategy, which is generally slower at executing due to lengthy instructions.
8x10 Description:
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 MSM8x10 has an average performing CPU with a
maximum clock speed of 1,200.00 MHz. It has 2 core(s), resulting in good multi-tasking when
compared to a single core processor.This processor is based on the Reduced Instruction Set
Computing (RISC) design strategy enabling instructions to execute faster, as opposed to the
Complex Instruction Set Computing (CISC) design strategy, which is generally slower at
executing due to lengthy instructions.
(iii) 8930 Chipset:
Worked on this target from May 2014 – November 2014. Supported similar
integration activities as above.
8930 Description:
The Qualcomm MSM8930 (Snapdragon S4 Plus series) is an ARM based high-end
smartphone SoC in 2012. It contains two Krait (ARMv7) CPU cores at up to 1.2 GHz, a
Adreno 305 GPU, a single channel LPDDR2 memory controller and LTE radio elements.
The chip is produced in 28nm LP (low power process) at TSMC. Compared to the
MSM8960, the 8930 is lower clocked, offers only a single channel memory controller, but
has a faster GPU.
(iv) Other activities:
 Have written Perl script to reduce manual efforts on target Sanity Testing. It reduce
manual effort to run commands in each device.
 Have written Batch file script. It will show in each build CPU.GUP,clock frequency
values and DDR values.
 Developed on android app which is related to GPS functionality. This Application
shows the status of the GPS Provider and the Network Provider.
 Supporting customers through future Android OTA upgrades and providing support
 Security bug fixes during entire project life time.
Responsibilities:
 Release planning/ publishing important milestones to all teams/Leads
 Reviewing stability issues reported by test/field teams across globe
 Interacting with Customer Engineering(CE) and technical account
managers(TAMs) in aligning team resources to meet deliverables on time
 POC for all the 8937,8x10/8x26 SP’s and CSP’s.
 Follow up with the Tech teams for various customers requested CR’s & Feature.
 Creating release notes and releasing stable bug free code/SBA to customer.
 Firing builds in EC. Tracking test results in Continues Integration Testing
(CIT) stations, in case of failures /crash discuss with appropriate teams and
work towards prompt resolution.
 Maintaining the releases and tracking CR’s in PRISM, WiKi page.
