● Most frequently reported form of child abuse
● 28.3% of all cases of child abuse
● Physical child abuse is physical injury put upon the child
● In one study, 80% of 21- year olds who reported childhood abuse met
the criteria for at least 1 psychological disorder
4. Ways To End It
● Recognize the signs,ask what happened when you see something
● If your a child, have a friend getting abused, tell someone, don’t keep it
a secret
● If your an adult report to authorities
● Parents, Discipline your child thoughtfully, starvation and other forms
of abuse is not being thoughtful
● Volunteer in time
5. Step 1
Know/Learn The Symptoms
● Any injury to a child whom is not crawling yet
● Visible and severe injuries
● Injuries at different stages of healing
● Injuries unexplained or explained in a way that does not add
up
● Severe variations of injuries on numerous or differing surfaces
of the body
6. Step 2
Notice
● Cuts
● Bruises
● Burns
● Other Marks
● Injuries of any nature
● Feared Reactions when approached
7. Step 3
Talk To Them If Notice
● Ask the person to see if they are ok
● If no is said, don’t take that as an answer
● Tell them to go and get some help
8. Step 4
Report Abuse to a Trusted Adult
● Some abused children deny help at first.
● For every 1 child abuse act reported 2 more go unreported.
● Every 6 hours a child dies from physical abuse or neglect in the US, and
by speaking up you can decrease that number.
9. Step 5
Empathize With Them
● Be there for them after reporting
● They may be taken away from their abusive parents
● Give them all of the love and care their parents didn’t offer
● You may be saving them from self harm
