• I am 18 years old.since I was little I saw my mother and father
fight.once they were done they would blame my sisters.i was the
youngest.they were at that time 5-10 roundabout.i would feel horrible
when they‘d be blamed.i remember that one morning my sisters got
ready for school.it was winter. my mom broke a glass she then
screamed and abused.and then she threw off our trophies from the
shelf.they clanged on the floor.she said horrible things I was
petrified.after this episode she and dad got in a car,he‘d abuse her
with his fists in places no one could see.he called her terrible
names.she would stop talking to everyone. mom and dad never hit
me or my sisters.
17. Reflections
• Solo
• What are your immediate responses to this story?
• Do you see any evidence of children being blamed for their own
abuse?
• What do you think is going on for the parents? For example, are they
thinking about the effects of their actions on their children?
• What kinds of abuse do you detect in this story?
• Do you think ABC could believe s/he is bad? Why or why not?
• Do you think ABC feels abandoned? Worthless? Why or why not?
• Do you see evidence of compassion or self-compassion?
