Horror Genre

Why have I chosen the horror genre?
Ultimately, I chose the specific genre of horror through the common knowledge of
horror on a personal scale. Horrors have, also, a wide variety of possibilities to
attract a viewer. With micro facets or features such as a factual back story that adds
tension in an exceptional storyline combined, a horror has a better chance of
grabbing a viewer’s attention. The innate feeling of people being pessimistic and also
very instinctively curious, horrors trigger these humanistic ways to an audience and
create a much more impacting response on a spectator. Adding onto that, the
possibility of creating realismin a paranormal film entails a lot of variety in the
category itself. You can link such happenings with almost anything, for example; a
possession of any object you can get your hands on and the death of anyone to
haunt something etc. The after effect and impact has a much easier path to go
through when producing, exhibition and distributing.
Due to recent research, linking to the horror genre in the modern today, it’s been
said that current 5 horror movies have exceeded ratings in the media (within box
office). This is all within one year. This has come to increase to 2016 fluently. It has
also been said that 10 topical horrors today have exceeded their budget x10 after
selling out their films. Thus showing the best outcomes and outstanding outcomes
co –exist with the horror genre. Horrors are now considered, in articles, immune to
the media onslaught of today and media brutality. (Research found on such online
articles such as indiewire.com and fivethirtyeight.com).
In my personal preference, I know of the famous director James Wan who has taken
part in directing so many well made out films with over exceptional outcomes to this
date, such as Fast and Furious 7 and the well-known Insidious trilogy. The popularity
of his films are consistent with his more frequent horrors: mirroring his success
through his horror genre preference. Insidious: Chapter three has grossed a total of
$357.7 million worldwide, an astonishing amount of revenue after exhibition. Linking
to this, written on statista.comstated horror movies brought 330 million U.S. dollars
in box office results in 2014, which surely has increased today.
