2. Gender breakdown
female
male
Male = 72
Female = 38
There is more male readers than
female which is what I was aiming for
as in other magazines there is typically
more male to female readers in the
rock genre. Although, I would like to
increase the amount of readers being
female to increase sales.
3. Genre breakdown
Although collectively the numbers do
not add up to 100 this is because the
genre of rock and metal have the sub
genres which some of the people who
answered the survey have ticked rock
and metal and also the sub genre of
these genres.
• Pop – 16
• Rock – 26
• Electro – 12
• R+B – 6
• Dub – 7
• Metal – 23
• Classical – 4
• Indie – 14
• Sub genre in metal - 17
• Sub genre in rock - 19
• Other – 4
This shows that rock and metal along
with sub genres are highest in demand
for a magazine.

5. Further survey breakdown
• 76% said they would rather pay more for an in depth
informative magazine monthly, rather than either the same
but weekly or a quick overview of the latest weekly.
• More people would pay more for a monthly magazine than
a weekly and get a better quality, so quality is key.
• 33% of the 100 people I asked already buy a music
magazine – this is not much so it will be difficult to get a
good market share of the people who buy magazines
currently and to get new buyers.
• Quiz’s or competitions proved popular and to be included
in the magazine with 87% of people ticking yes for the
opportunity to be in the magazine.
• Ages varied a lot to how many of them buy magazines so
there must be collectors of music magazines due to the
amount of people in older generations buying them.
