Audience Research Results.
1: Are you..
• Male: 10
• Female: 10
• With this question I tried to question an even number of both genders as I
feel it would give me more thorough and un-biased results which I could
then base my magazine on. I felt that this was important because I am
now able to feature articles in my magazine that both genders would
enjoy. Using this research I am able to create articles where both males
and females will find interested so it will not just be a ‘Mens’ or ‘Womens’
magazine.

• The target audience for my magazine is from 15-24 so I mainly focused on
getting results from this age group, as you can see. I felt this would be
relevant because I could then base my magazine on the results that this
age group gave to me. On this question, I questioned more 15-19 year olds
as that is the main age group that I want to concentrate my magazine
upon, so getting results from them will be me a stronger idea of how to
create my magazine.

What Sub-genre of rock do you prefer?

Series1

• I felt this question would give me an idea of what to sub-genres of rock to
feature in a weekly issue of my magazine. From these results I will now
feature more progressive-rock articles than Grunge articles. If I feature
more prog-rock articles, it will keep the majority of the readers
happy, however I will still feature other sub-genres to keep the minority
happy.

• With this question I am able to get an idea of what sort of things I should
feature in my magazine, from New albums reviews to posters. I think these
results will give me a strong idea as to what I put in my magazine, and
because the audience would like to see more of one thing than another, I
will follow my results.

• I asked this question as I was unsure of what to call my rock music
magazine, however the results from these questions are pretty even and
still do not give me a strong idea of what to name my magazine. But I will
cancel it down to 4 different names that I can pick from, from there it
would just be personal preference.

• I asked this question because I was unsure of what the frequency of
publication would be of my own magazine, however from the results I
have gathered I will most likely make mine a weekly released magazine
with around 70 pages.

• I had a fairly good idea of what to price my magazine at already
however, researching the matter would still be helpful. Using these results
I will probably price a newly made magazine at around £2.20-£2.90. I will
put my magazine at this price because of the fact that it is a new
magazine.

feature in my magazine, and according to this the majority of people
would want interviews with more famous bands.

• Using the results from this question I am now able to choose between two
different page layouts, Messy or minimalistic. Because the majority of the
rock genre magazines have a messy layout, I will most likely follow the
same process.

• I asked this question because using these results I would then be able to
base my magazine on an already existing one. I would do this because if
people preferred a KERRANG magazine, I could then revolve my magazine
around KERRANG too, therefore people will enjoy mine.
