4. ACTIVITY1: COMPARING PACKING MATERIALS
PROCEDURE:
1-COMPARE THE PROPERTIES OF THE
BIODEGRADABLE AND NON-BIODEGRADABLE
PACKING MATERIALS
2-IMMERSE ONE PIECE OF EACH TYPE OF
PACKING MATERIALS IN WATER
3-PACK AN EGG IN A PLASTIC BAG USING THE
NON-BIODEGRADABLE PACKING MATERIALS
DROP THE BAG ONE MATER AND SEE WHETHER
THE EGG BREAKS .
CONCLUSION:
YOU OBSERVED THE TWO TYPES OF PACKING
MATERIALS HAVE SIMILAR PROPERTIES.
5. ACTIVITY 1 : COMPARING PACKING
MATERIALS
Procedure :
1- First we compared between the white foam And the
green foam for packing the
eggs.
2- Then We put each egg in a pack one with a white
foam & the other with green foam
3- After that we threw them from a different points
4- finally we tested them & none of them were strong
enough to protect the egg from cracking in our first try.
Objective : to compare between two types of foam
& which will resist to prevent the egg from
cracking.
Conclusion : we realized that we didn’t
put the right amount of foam in the
package & that’s why it cracked so
easily.
6. ACTIVITY: 2 HUNTING FOR
BIODEGRADABLE
MATERIALS
Should be
Biodegradable
Why?
Plastic Because the accumulation is
causing environmental pollution
and harm human& the animals
around the globe.
Medical stitches Because if the stitches did not
degrade at the wound site it will
cause an infection in the human
body and may cause a bloodshed.
Industrial waste: polymers /
packaging waste
Because these wastes causing
pollution and taking massive
areas of landfills.
7. ACTIVITY: 2
Shouldn’t be
Biodegradable
Why?
Metal
Because when the metal
oxidizes with water it rusts due
to the air it weakens and makes
it easily breakable and it needs
an upgrade so it can resist rust
etc…
Clothes Cause if clothes gets
biodegradable we can’t wear
them at all times cause often
we wear clothes for two days or
three and it we’ll be useless
Cars These days cars are an
important factor in our lives so
it can’t be biodegradable if
someone parked his car outside
it will decompose after a while.
8. ACTIVITY 3: PROCESSING BIODEGRADABLE
AND COMPARING THEIR MECHANICAL
PROPERTIES
Procedure :we brought 60 gelatin capsules and
divided them and put them in 3 backers with
different concentrations hcl
Reuslt~:
1-5% weaker than 10% and 5% has less
transparency
2-10% film is stronger than 5% and have more
transparency
3-20% had become a gel and it have more
flexibility than 5% and 10%
Objective : To compare between
their mechanical & physical
properties.
9. ACTIVITY 4: MEASURING THE DEGRADATION
RATES OF BIODEGRADABLE MATERIALS
• Objective: in the activate we will check the
degradation in different solution
• Procedure:
1-determine the mass of a gelatin capsule and a piece
of biodegradable packing material
2-prepare three solution hcl , naoh and hot water all
with same volume
3- place a peace of biodegradable packing materials
in a hot water bath record the time in takes digrade
4- place a sample of each of the other type of
materials in the hot water and hcl and naoh
• Ions of hot water 200ml and naoh 0.0001ml we
dropped in the 3 materials 5% 10% and 20%
10. DESIGNING PROJECT
• Objective: trying to design a medicine device using gelatin
capsules
• Procedure
• The food dye reqresenting the release of the medicine in the
media like stomach
11. • When the farmer or any one want to implant a flower or tree
or any thing they by mistake three ore four seeds in the
same place for this we think that if make a biodegradable
pots the seeds will we names organizer plants pots
• And our anther product is cycling the plastic like the most
thing we through it in the garbige is the plastic
OUR PROUDACT
13. PRODUCT STEEPS
• First we make the news paper toilet roll and the egg box
pots
• Sec we put inside it the sand
• Third we put the seeds
• And for the anther product
• First we cut bottle of water half and we designing by paper
14. • In the first product we made a 100% biodegradable pots
• In the second proudact we make recycling for the plastic
• And we can recycling any thin biodegradable or non-
biodegradable
PRODUCT CONCLUSIONS
15. We learn in albairaq many thing that if I will talk about it I cant
stop the important thing that we learned in albairaq is the
team work working as a group
And we learned about the biodegradable materials so much
Thank you very much albairaq
CONCLUSIONS
