Introduction
• Biodegradable Materials: is a substance that
degrades into smaller nontoxic parts that are
returned to the environment and may be
reused by organisms
Activity1:Comparing Packing Materials
Objective:
To pack some eggs in two packing materials (a
biodegradable & a non- biodegradable) to see
which is the better in protecting the eggs.
Activity2:Comparing Packing Materials
Conclusion:
The two packing materials gave the same
protection to the eggs but the biodegradable
one dissolves in water.
Activity3:Hunting For Biodegradable
Materials
Objective:
To know what biodegradable material do
everyone have in there houses.
Activity3:For Biodegradable Materials
Observation:
We found that most of things in people houses
are made of non-biodegradable, and a lot of
other things are made of biodegradable.
Activity3:Processing Biodegradable
Materials And Comparing Their
Mechanical Properties
Objective:
To processing and comparing the mechanical
properties of
biodegradable materials
Procedure:
By putting different amounts of gelatin, and HCl
we made three different types of gelatin films
(5% w/v, 10% w/v, and 20% w/v gelatin films).
Activity4:Measuring The Degradation
Rates Of Biodegradable Materials
Objective:
measuring the degradation
rate of Biodegradable
materials
Procedure:
By using NaOH, HCl, boiling water, and normal
water to degrade the 3 films we made before,
and gelatin capsules, and some foam to
measure the Degradation rates of them.
Activity4:Measuring The Degradation
Rates Of Biodegradable Materials
Conclusion:
Boiling H2O HCl NaOH
Foam 17 min 55 min 33 min
5% Gelatin Films 3 sec 18 min 36 min
20% Gelatin Films 9 min 30 min 63 min
Gelatin Capsule 4 min 45 min 1 hour, 5 min
Design Project: Designing A Medicine-
Delivery Device
Objective:
To design a device that will effectively deliver
medicines inside human body.
Bio Plastic
Introduction and Rationale:
Palm tree is a part of our culture and it is widespread Qatar, it has many uses
but we think about it as a Biodegradable Material.
We use “palm tree” to make Biodegradable plastic form natural components:
Starch + Water + Vinegar + Glycerin
• Aim of the work (objectives) (‫البحث‬ ‫)هدف‬
Our product can help the environment by replacing plastic waste which cause
harm to the atmosphere, plants, and animals.
Bio Plastic
Results
• Our product may be used in many ways such as
making Biodegradable plastic bags, dishes,
disposable utensils and silverware.
• Our product will solve many problems like water
pollution.

Recommendations
• We advice everyone to try using our product
for lots of new applications.
• Our product need to be improve by
researchers and if we have to try many times
to get the right ratio for all components.
Conclusions
(Overall)
In AL-Bairaq we have gained a lot of skills and
benefits such as:
1. scientific research
2. Preparing to university
3. Development of practical laboratory skills
4. Team work
5. Communication skills
6. And lots of other benefits.

  • 3. Introduction • Biodegradable Materials: is a substance that degrades into smaller nontoxic parts that are returned to the environment and may be reused by organisms
  • 4. Activity1:Comparing Packing Materials Objective: To pack some eggs in two packing materials (a biodegradable & a non- biodegradable) to see which is the better in protecting the eggs.
  • 5. Activity2:Comparing Packing Materials Conclusion: The two packing materials gave the same protection to the eggs but the biodegradable one dissolves in water.
  • 6. Activity3:Hunting For Biodegradable Materials Objective: To know what biodegradable material do everyone have in there houses.
  • 7. Activity3:For Biodegradable Materials Observation: We found that most of things in people houses are made of non-biodegradable, and a lot of other things are made of biodegradable.
  • 8. Activity3:Processing Biodegradable Materials And Comparing Their Mechanical Properties Objective: To processing and comparing the mechanical properties of biodegradable materials Procedure: By putting different amounts of gelatin, and HCl we made three different types of gelatin films (5% w/v, 10% w/v, and 20% w/v gelatin films).

Activity4:Measuring The Degradation Rates Of Biodegradable Materials Objective: measuring the degradation rate of Biodegradable materials Procedure: By using NaOH, HCl, boiling water, and normal water to degrade the 3 films we made before, and gelatin capsules, and some foam to measure the Degradation rates of them.

  • 11. Design Project: Designing A Medicine- Delivery Device Objective: To design a device that will effectively deliver medicines inside human body.
  • 12. Bio Plastic Introduction and Rationale: Palm tree is a part of our culture and it is widespread Qatar, it has many uses but we think about it as a Biodegradable Material. We use “palm tree” to make Biodegradable plastic form natural components: Starch + Water + Vinegar + Glycerin • Aim of the work (objectives) (‫البحث‬ ‫)هدف‬ Our product can help the environment by replacing plastic waste which cause harm to the atmosphere, plants, and animals.
  • 13. Bio Plastic Results • Our product may be used in many ways such as making Biodegradable plastic bags, dishes, disposable utensils and silverware. • Our product will solve many problems like water pollution.
  • 14. Bio Plastic Recommendations • We advice everyone to try using our product for lots of new applications. • Our product need to be improve by researchers and if we have to try many times to get the right ratio for all components.
  • 15. Conclusions (Overall) In AL-Bairaq we have gained a lot of skills and benefits such as: 1. scientific research 2. Preparing to university 3. Development of practical laboratory skills 4. Team work 5. Communication skills 6. And lots of other benefits.
