3. What make materials
biodegradable?
The definition of biodegradable
is simple: It means an item that
can break down into natural
materials in the environment
without causing harm.
For example, when a substance
biodegrades into carbon
dioxide, water, and other
naturally occurring minerals
5. Project Idea
Introduction
Each year six million tons of single use plastic utensils are
disposed .
These plastic utensils can take hundreds of year to degrade in
the overly filled landfills .
The negative effect to this huge amounts is catastrophic to the
environment .
Aim of the work
To make single use utensils from biodegradable materials
instead of plastic to protect the environment from waste
and pollution .
6. Hypothesis
We expect that our product will
provide a better substitute to plastic
utensils and a much environmentally
friendly product
Its expected that the product will
degrade in less than one year
9. Results
The combination of materials previously
stated give the following characteristics of
the product
1- Strong
2- Moldable
3- Lightweight
4- Biodegradable
5- Cheap
10. Benefits
Plastic production will be reduced .
Since plastic is a polymer manufactured from
oil, less damage will happed to the
environment especially less production
harmful gases .
The product will benefit the soil since it will
degrade to CO2 and water which plants can be
used .
11. Recommendations
Its recommend to replace plastic
cutlery with our invention because
we use waste and biodegradable
materials instead
12. Conclusions
This experience has taught us a lot
about new topics in science and
environment.
We learned through making exciting
experiments about biodegradable
materials.
We hope that our product benefits Qatar
and internationally and used by many
people to replace regular plastic.
