Character profiles
1. Taylor – played by Aidan Carter
• Name: Taylor was chosen as this is a androgynous name.
As we are re-inventing the idea of the ‘final girl’ (Carol J.
Clover theory), we felt we would give our protagonist a
unisex name as it does not conform to the traditional
‘masculine’ traits of male characters in films.
• Mannerisms: The gradual increase in tension and anxiety
within Taylor will show his development from a casual
teenager to the vulnerable character at the end, again
subverting this ‘final girl’ theory.
• Clothing: The clothing of the character will remain casual
in order to represent him as comfortable, so that we can
play on the idea of ‘horror in the home’ and threaten
ordinary existence. A large jumper and skinny black
trousers will be worn, which does not connote a
masculine or a feminine stereotype, keeping the character
androgynous.
2. Child Antagonist: played by [TBC]
• Name: The child’s identity will remain unknown as it keeps
the element of mystery behind the character. We want the
audience to finish the short films pondering on what
happened to the child, as it keeps the audience intrigued in
the mystery throughout.
• Mannerisms: Certain sounds around the house will connote
the fact that the child is mischievous. Sounds such as large
knocking sounds which insinuate that damage is being
caused will be used.
• Clothing: The outline of the antagonists clothing will be
shown at points throughout the short in silhouette form.
From this the audience can determine that the child is
wearing a pinafore dress and has pig-tails, synonymous
with a young child.
