2. 3. HOW DID YOUR PRODUCTION SKILLS
DEVELOP THROUGHOUT THIS PROJECT?
• My production skills developed through the usage of photoshop and other
photo editing processes and also using alternative programs.
• Throughout my development of my constructs I used a web process called
Fotor to create an ink drop effect as shown in my development, then I used
photoshop for my first double page spread draft in which I used gaussian blur
to blur out the background to create a nice soft focus surrounding the models.
• After completing my first drafts, I felt I could have used more photoshop/other
processes in order to strengthen my skill set.
3. FINAL DRAFTS
• Photoshop for cover page:
• Created layer with white boarder >> created layer with image >> placed layer two
under layer one and maximized the image >> layer >> new adjustment layer >> black
& white >> another new adjustment layer >> pen tool to erase black and white effect
to reveal pink lipstick >> coverlines + headlines added with the font ”letters gothic
std” >> masthead + coverlines + website light pink (code #9a8f96)
• Alterations: white boarder changed to light pink colour >>
4.
5. WHY?
• I wanted a white boarder for the cover of my magazine as this is seemingly a
common convention amongst independent magazines- if not white then they
often have a boarder surrounding their image. I chose white as it gives a sense of
a polaroid effect and adds minimalism to my magazine.
• I wanted a black and white image to juxtapose the colour scheme and to make
the colours really emphasized so in future issues the change in colour scheme will
too be shown against a black and white image- creating synergy amongst all
issues of Stelpa.
• I found it tricky to use photoshop to create a black and white image as
photoshop jargon was not and is not second nature to me yet- however I found a
really useful youtube clip that showed me how. >>

6. FINAL DRAFTS
• Photoshop for my contents page:
• Added a layer for my main image >> created another layer (light pink background) >>
created for shapes (lines) for the diamond effect >> cropped 2nd layer around the lines
to reveal a diamond cut out with the layer 1 image underneath >> added two
mastheads at the top of each side (light gray).
7.
8. WHY?
• I felt that the diamond layout revealing the image(s) underneath added a unique
spin on my contents page that would otherwise be too simplistic. The colour
palettes may not entirely match, however the contrast between the two creates a
light and summery effect that which suits this issue of Stelpa because it would be
released in June.
9. 4. HOW DID YOU INTEGRATE TECHNOLOGIES –
SOFTWARE, HARDWARE AND ONLINE – IN THIS
PROJECT?
• Software:
• Online processes:
My blog that which
documents all my
research, developments,
constructs and
evaluation was
completed by WIX.
The main use of software I used was photoshop. I used this to
structure my constructs, and also to edit my photos to which I
then took screenshots as I developed each element of my
magazine and uploaded it to my blog on Wix.com
