3. 1ST GENERATION(1G)
HISTORY
1G MOBILE COMMUNICATION
SYSTEM WAS INTRODUCED IN
JAPAN IN 1979 BY NIPPON
TELEGRAPH AND TELEPHONE.
FEATURES
• FREQUENCY: 30 KHZ
• BANDWIDTH: 2KBPS
• ACCESS SYSTEM: FDMA
• CORE NETWORK : PSTN
4. DRAWBACK OF 1G
• Analog signals were prone to interferences. So the communication was
noisy.
• Analog systems did not support adequate encryption systems. So, security
was a vital issue and tapping could not be controlled.
• 1G mobile phones appears bulky and awkward by modern standards .
• The main drawback of 1g technology is that it uses analog signals rather
than digital signals
• Poor security
5. 2G COMMUNICATION
• History
• 2G cellular networks were commercially launched on the GSM standard in
Finland by Radiolinja in 1991.
• Features
• Frequency: 1.8 GHz
• Bandwidth: 14.4-64kbps
• Access system: TDMA or CDMA
• Core network : pstn
7. • 1. The lower powered radio signals require less battery power, so phones
last much longer between charges, and batteries can be smaller.
2. The digital voice encoding allowed digital error checking which could
increase sound quality by reducing dynamic and lowering the noise floor.
3.The lower power emissions helped address health concerns.
Advantage
• In less populous areas, the weaker digital signal will not be sufficient to
reach a cell tower.
• The digital will start to completely fail , by dropping calls or
being unintelligible , while analog slowly gets worse , generally
holding a call longer and allowing at least some of the audio
transmitted to be understood .
Disadvantage
10. ADVANTAGE
Faster data rates.
Support multimedia applications such
as video and photography.
Value added services like mobile
television, GPS, video call and video
conference.
High speed mobile internet access.
High speed mobile internet access.
Increased capacity.
Of 3G
13. HISTORY
Telia Sonera was the first operator in the world
to commercially launch 4G. It was in late 2009,
in the city centres of Stockholm and Oslo. A
year later, 4G was launched in Finland. In 2014
Telia Sonera offers 4G services in 10 countries.
15. ADVANTAGE AND DISADVANTAGE
• Extremely high voice quality
• Higher bandwidth
• 4G is 10 times faster than 3G
• Easily access Internet, IM, social networks, streaming media, video calling
Advantage
• Higher data prices for consumers
• New frequencies means new components in cell towers.
• Consumer is forced to buy a new device to support the 4G
disadvantage

17. What is 5G?
5G is the 5th generation mobile network. It is a new global wireless standard after 1G, 2G, 3G,
and 4G networks. 5G enables a new kind of network that is designed to connect virtually
everyone and everything together including machines, objects, and devices.
