Hello!!
Remember when you used to ride on your bike as a kid? What happened to you now?
This slideshow was prepared as the outcome of our team project aiming for the promotion of cycling among citizens, chosen under the topic Sports and Recreation.
Please look through it and give us your feedback.
Thank you!
2. The number of citizens taking up cycling
for transportation or fun are significantly
decreasing, not only in our city, Bhopal
but in many other places across India as
well as in other countries.
We are increasingly less likely to ‘get
active’ as we get older.
Reasons such as over-dependency on
other forms of transportation, lack of
infrastructure, urbanisation, lack of will,
etc. can be behind this.
As a result, our generation has never been
more obese.
9. The people of Japan have been
using cycles for going to
school/work and for short-distance
travel since way back. Therefore,
they seem to embed this practice
into their youth.
Apart from public willingness,
currently the cycling policy in Japan
is handled by multiple governmental
bodies providing suitable
infrastructure further facilitating and
promoting cycling even more.
WHY IS CYCLING SO POPULAR IN JAPAN?
10. 5% of all trips in the United
Kingdom are made by
bicycles. In the United States
this number is lower than 1%
BUT
NETHERLANDS
HAS IT AT A
SIGNIFICANT
30%
DID YOU KNOW?
11. LARGE SCALE CYCLING
AND LIFE EXPECTANCY
From our research, we found out
that the life expectancy of the
population of a country such as the
Netherlands and Japan is much
higher as compared to a country of
non-cyclers. The reason behind this
is quite simple- more cycling means
more physically active people and
also a more cleaner atmospheric
environment , all leading to
comaprably lesser developed world
problems.

many health and cycling related
questions which were all answered
by her.
