5. IMPACT AREAS
Education:
Access to quality education to all children up to the age
of fourteen is the constitutional commitment of
Government of India. Government has made several
efforts to achieve the goal of “Universalization of
Education”. IDAF with its “Access to Education” initiative
is running many programmes at primary & secondary
level to provide education to those for whom quality
education is a dream. IDAF has now taken an approach
of Integrated Technology in Education & trying to reach
as many students thru ICTs.
Digital India:
IDAF is committed to the govt. of India Mission of
making last mile person digitally literate & connecting
them online. IDAF is making Panchayat functionaries
digitally enabled & online & also setting up Cyber
Villages in Adarsh Gram. Identification of the clusters in
rural areas and digitizing them are some of the
measures IDAF has initiated. We are also imparting
training to the artisans so that sources of livelihood
could be created for them. We are working with the
government to promote digital inclusion in public
services, Civil Societies, Panchayats, and Municipal
Corporations & Schools.
Skill India & Employability:
IDAF is helping youth & women to develop new skills, by
giving them access to relevant vocational & non
vocational training and connecting them with
employers& entrepreneurs. We facilitate them to take
independent decision about their career and earn a
meaningful livelihood for themselves. So far we have
impacted 2000 Youth in ICT certified training & 100
women in financial literacy & employability under IDAF
Academy. IDAF Academy is dedicated skill building
center where regular courses are being run for all.
6. Women & Child Development
One of the major focus areas of IDAF is bringing the women &
children from marginalized sections like Slums & minorities,
SC /ST into a formal learning process. IDAF also work for
women entrepreneurship programme where SHGs & other
potential women are being identified and they enroll
themselves to become Women- as change agent. IDAF also
work for Right to Education to support children from rural &
slums & provide them all items required to continue their
education. IDAF also work for Child Rights & Women Rights
through Social Media Advocacy programme.
Agriculture & Farmers Development
Little has been done for farmers in India even though a lot
has been done in the field of agriculture. Over the years, the
government has launched various schemes and policies to
encourage farming in general but nothing really has been
done to aid the farmers in particular. While some corporates
and organisation too, work for the betterment of the status
of agriculture in the country, it is only the government that
supports the farmers. However, their support is not enough.
IDAF is working for the development of Farmers club & SHGs
to aware them about climate change & ICT usage. We are
also working with landless farmers to connect them with
crowdfunding in their odd days so that no one thinks of
committing suicide in distress.
Swachh Bharat Mission
IDAF is active partner of Swachh Bharat Mission &
contributing in setting up e-Toilets in Schools & Slums.
IDAF also runs health &Hygiene drive in schools & slums. In
villages we make the villagers aware by showing audio

classes, study tours, exposure trips, health check-ups, and awareness sessions on personal hygiene, de-
addiction talks, life-skills and safe environment, among others, to make a difference in their overall well-being.
e-Pathshala aims in the holistic development- lifestyle and skills of the participant of the program.
10. “Libraries Development Programme”
Since the ancient times, libraries serve as
community information centers providing access
at local level to a wide range of knowledge and
information for the benefit of the individual and
society as a whole. Despite of having an important
role in Information sharing & learning , the public
libraries in India still are largely being considered
as repository for books & facing issues like low
level of computerization and automation, dearth
of appropriate reading material in local languages
etc.
Realizing the potential of Public& Community
Libraries in empowering communities through
increasing their access to information and
grassroots community engagement, India
Development Alternatives Foundation (IDAF)
worked together with Digital Empowerment
Foundation to revitalize Public Libraries in U.P. with
Support of Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in
association with Govt. of Uttar Pradesh. With the
moto of ENGAE- INFORM- EMPOWER, District
Library Resource Centre (DLRC) was set up at
Government District Library, Kanpur, Unnao in
Uttar Pradesh, with the aim to make Public
Libraries an Information & Entrepreneurship Hub, accessible to all section of the society.
“IDAF Academy”

inculcating ethical values and developing some mental faculties in them so that they can observe, analyze and
understand anything that comes their way.

“Social Media for Democracy Workshop”
The First Workshop with Govt. of Uttar Pradesh gave us a lot of food for thought around how elected
members mainly Panchayats members, MLAs & public agencies can use social media to solve the real time
issues & establish a trustworthy & transparent communication mode between those who make policies &
proposal of development & the beneficiaries they cater. This is under our Public Policy programme where we
