ORGANIZATION HISTORY
Ilula Orphan Program is a Christian outreach Non Government Organization, working to
support Most Vulnerable Children in Mazombe Division, Kilolo District, and Iringa Region
Tanzania. IOP was established in 1998 and officially registered by The Registrar of Societies
in The Ministry of Home Affairs Tanzania on 27th
August 2003 and the IOP registration
number is SO.NO 12054.
IOP MISSION STATEMENT
To provide opportunities for quality education, life skills, counseling and social economic
sustainability to the community with special emphasis on the most vulnerable children,
women and the marginalized groups, regardless of race and religion.
IOP VISION
IOP aims to see a healthy, educated, economically and socially developed Tanzanian
community where human rights are respected and integrity is uplifted
IOP VALUES
The values of IOP shall be commitment, creativity, volunteerism, co-operation, integrity,
transparency, honesty, accountability, respect, confidentiality and respect to gender equality
and equity.
AN OVER VIEW OF ILULA TIGERS SPORTS CLUB.
What is Ilula Tigers Spots Club? Ilula Tigers Sports Club is a club found in Iringa
Tanzania. IOP together with FOVEA FOUNDATION started it in 2014 February. The
purpose of starting this club was to reach children both boys and girls but specifically girls
because they are the most forgotten group in our community. This club comprises of games
like basketball, volleyball, netball, tennis etc. But at the moment the club has football,
volleyball and netball team only because the club is lacking play grounds for the rest of
games.
It was suggested that we should call it Ilula Tigers Sports Club to create a room to include
all games in future. Starting this club was not an easy task. There are some people who spent
their resources and invested their time to make sure this happens. Appreciation to all friends
in and out of Tanzania for all the support you have been giving us to make sure that the lives
of Most Vulnerable children are changed.
On 11th
February 2014, our club was officially registered as ‘’ILULA TIGERS SPORTS
CLUB’’ under registration number 10626. Realizing the importance of helping children
through sports this club was registered faster than it was expected. It did not take so long to
register the club and it was because the National Sports Council saw the significance of

establishing this club in our area to benefit children who lack playing grounds and other sports
materials.
Goals of Ilula Tigers. The club has been struggling to make sure it achieves the following
goals:-
 To provide equal opportunity to all students and non-student children who are living in
kilolo district.
 To equip girls whose sports rights are not recognized in the society.
 To provide a room and opportunity to the children to develop their skills, experience
in competitive events and social interactions.
 To bring together girls and empower them through sports and other games.
Who are the participants? Our club is encouraging all children to join our club. We do not
depend on race, religion or economic status to offer a membership to a child. All children are
invited to join our club after filling special registration forms provided by IOP.
How do we recruit our players? Our players are recruited from primary schools that
surround kilolo District, IOP is reaching 70 villages in Kilolo District, it is reaching more than
100 primary schools with different trainings and other supports, Ilula Tigers Club reaches
these schools and teaches children in these schools and from the villages. By doing so the club
has been in the position to recruit very good players with perfect talents. The children who
perform well are taken into Ilula Tiger Sports Club for further training.
Number of members/ how big is the club. The club started in 2014 and up to now it has
about 90 active members who can train on our single football pitch that we have in different
days. This number is comprised of two girls’ teams and 3 boys’ teams. This is the number we
can accommodate but we have other members in different schools and villages who train on
their own but they lack sports equipment and unfortunately we cannot afford to support all the
kids because of limited resources.
Immediate supporter. Our immediate supporter/sponsor has been FOVEA and they made
great effort to make sure that we reach the stage we are now, however FOVEA cannot sustain
all we need on their own. We need other committed people and organizations who can
support and help our club so that we can walk an extra mile from the place we are now.
Achievements. Since the establishment of this club the following achievements have been
reached.
 Immediately after completing the registration process our club was invited to attend
the EA Cup in Moshi town, in Kilimanjaro region. This is a big tournament that
invites more than 10 countries from East and Central Africa. We had to take our boys
and girls’ team but we only took boys and they were able to enter into a quarter final
in our group when they bit South Sudan by 3-1 goals.
4
 The life of kids who were about to give up has improved. Those kids who were not
blessed to have parents who could offer them education, can now join their fellow kids
and feel like one family. Our future dream is to start an academy where we can control
children together in one place and offer them with a good sports education.
 Full participation into sports. Children in the area are aware that sports is so
important in their lives both academic and social life. Last year June we had more than
900 kids who attended the tournament IOPADEN. These people participated in
different sports. Football, Volleyball, Athletics, drawing etc.
 Selection of four players from our team to attend the Copa Coca-Cola
tournament. This is under 16 tournament in Tanzania that is being done each year.
The boys performed better and they were selected to represent the southern Highland
Zone but at the end of the day the sponsors run out of money something which made
us not to go on with this tournament.
 Exposure for the boys and girls to other places. We have been travelling within
Iringa attending different competitions. Last year November we were invited to go in
Kenya to attend to a tournament but we had no funds and we were not able to attend
so far.
Ilula population has ordinary people who real need help from those who can support; this has
made the population around to suffer from missing the school needs, etc. That means parents
around cannot afford to support their children to play in a safe environment. IOP tried to go
around the communities searching for talents and it found that there are plenty of them and
they really enjoy playing soccer. These children play with no shoes; they use a local
handmade small ball made of plastic bags that makes them get injuries every time. What to do
if we need these kids?
i. IOP idea was to provide them with balls so that they may enjoy playing soccer.
ii. Bringing them close so that we may be able to train them while near our playgrounds.
iii. To combine both the students and non-students to make our team, this is because
students most of the times are at school therefore they miss time to train with us.
OBJECTIVES OF THE CLUB.
Mission and Vision has to relate to the mission of the organization that is IOP but the
objectives of each project have to differ always. We have set up our objectives that will drive
us to success.
THE PURPOSE OF ILULA TIGER CLUB
To bring people together and encourage them and promote friendship and sportsmanship
whilst enjoying the sports. ITSC is committed to create a safe and caring environment in
which vulnerable kids and all the members of the local community can enjoy taking part in
sports.

PROBLEM ANALYSIS
Ilula Tanzania is the area that has been affected by HIV/AIDS in the previous years and
therefore there are many children who were left as Orphans and Most Vulnerable Children. In
this case the Gender Based Violence (GBV) is unavoidable. Girls have been the first victims
of GBV.
Girls have been missing the chance to attend to schools simply because they were left orphans
with no help, support and care. They get early pregnancies not because they like to be that
way but because they have no other life alternative. Early marriages have been another
problem and girls think getting married is the solution to their problems.
IOP through Ilula Tiger sports Club is working very hard to recruit big number of girls into its
club, with intention of saving girls who run out of Ilula and go to big cities like Dar es Salaam
where they think life is easy and simple. These girls find themselves getting married while
still young, early pregnancies and they find themselves ending to be house maids and
nannies while their rights to play, getting education are denied. Through sports IOP has
managed to keep many girls and boys, the teams of young girls and young boys has been
participating in various game in different places around Kilolo district.
IOP through Ilula Tiger Club serve the children around Ilula and near places and enabling the
youth in the community by making sure that they get some equipment to use in the sport
activities in Kilolo district. IOP dreams is to come up with great achievement in sports by
investing to orphans and most vulnerable children both girls and boys. For example through
IOPADEN IOP has been reaching more than 900 children every year using this sports
tournament, the best players seen and found in this tournament have been used to participate
in outside sports and other competition in the district and outside Iringa region. The teams
have been going outside for different competitions, However ITSC has not been doing very
well because of some difficulties which IOP has been facing to make this club strong to win
big children championship in the area simply because this club lacks balls, jerseys, shoes, sox,
food, sports house, playing ground and min bus for transporting players to different places
where we are invited. IOP believes that if the mentioned changes will be solved the club will
be among the best clubs in Kilolo District, Iringa Region, and in Tanzania.
This clubs has only one year since established and it has changed life of some boys and girls
in the community. The discriminated group now doesn’t feel the same; this is because the
club does not base on the history of the child during recruitment. We allow all the kids to feel
free to join our club those with the parents and those without parents. They feel so special by
participating and getting the chance to join their fellow kids and all social-economic

differences are put aside. If we get support from different people our dream is to start a sports
academy. This will be easy for us to monitor and control the children we shall be recruiting.
For the time being we sometimes fail to control the children because we don’t have a place
where we can stay together and learn together as a team. The kids need to have the ethics
and rules of the club and this has to be taught as a subject.
Club house. We don’t have a place where we can store our equipment and this leads to loss
of some equipment and other sports gears.
Construction of football grounds. IOP is lacking playing grounds but at the moment Ilula
tiger club is sharing the same football ground with children here at the center (Orphanage).
One football pitch is not enough for all members of the club and sometimes other teams have
to wait train because of having only one playing field.
OUR CLUB TODAY:
The club has only few members not because they don’t want to join but because we don’t
have the means to support the whole population of the children around us.
This is how our club looks today but our vision is to get everything improved. Members
added, partners added, many more children reached and taught about the importance of
joining the world of sports.
We still need some partners and some sponsors who can support our club in one way or
another.

WHERE WE WANT TO BE IN FUTURE:
Our dreams in future have been to have many partner sponsors who can support one of the
teams we have, to have many playing fields where we can accommodate all the kids, to get
volunteers who can help us in coaching our kids, to own our club house which will enable us
to store our materials in a safe place, to reach a big population of kids who are not yet
reached and to establish many more games according to the interests of the kids.
SUSTAINABILITY.
The club wishes to manage itself in some years in terms of financial status.
Lending sports facilities; this may include having some good and quality sporting facilities
that will enable us to lend them to the people surrounding us. Things like; Good playing
fields/playgrounds, this applies to football, basketball volleyball and other games. For
example some of the indoor games that can be included when we already have the sports
house like Table tennis, Aerobics dance and Badminton.
Building a Gymnasium. Ilula is a fast growing town and in less than five years people will be
in high demand of sporting facilities and this will generate the income to the club. Among the
customers will be IOP staff and their family friends. From the research done it has been
noticed that there is no Gymnasium in Kilolo District and only very few in Iringa municipal
(Not more than three).

Exposing our players to the World in future. As for now we recruit children starting from 10
years of age, our plan is not letting these young boys and girls perish in the streets NO! We
have to make sure that we make follow up and make sure that we expose them to the big
leagues both in the country an outside the country. We can sell these players to big clubs and
generate the income to the club.
Selling the products of our team. We have a plan that we shall make our own jersey and
other sports gears and we can introduce these outfits in the market and sell them to the people
around us and even abroad. We can use our own logo and sell these products to earn more
money to run the club in the future.
Conclusion
We all have to understand that a young person is not a small adult and the stages of children
growth must be followed sports being one of them. It’s very important to consider the
physical development of each child and to distinguish their physical age from their actual age.
IOP is requesting all people in all parts of the world who would like to volunteer by coaching,
donate anything, giving the sports equipment, advice and sponsoring the club to feel free to
contact us. Together we can make the world a comfortable place for each child.

Immediate supporter. Our immediate supporter/sponsor has been FOVEA and they made great effort to make sure that we reach the stage we are now, however FOVEA cannot sustain all we need on their own. We need other committed people and organizations who can support and help our club so that we can walk an extra mile from the place we are now. Achievements. Since the establishment of this club the following achievements have been reached.  Immediately after completing the registration process our club was invited to attend the EA Cup in Moshi town, in Kilimanjaro region. This is a big tournament that invites more than 10 countries from East and Central Africa. We had to take our boys and girls’ team but we only took boys and they were able to enter into a quarter final in our group when they bit South Sudan by 3-1 goals.
  • 4. 4  The life of kids who were about to give up has improved. Those kids who were not blessed to have parents who could offer them education, can now join their fellow kids and feel like one family. Our future dream is to start an academy where we can control children together in one place and offer them with a good sports education.  Full participation into sports. Children in the area are aware that sports is so important in their lives both academic and social life. Last year June we had more than 900 kids who attended the tournament IOPADEN. These people participated in different sports. Football, Volleyball, Athletics, drawing etc.  Selection of four players from our team to attend the Copa Coca-Cola tournament. This is under 16 tournament in Tanzania that is being done each year. The boys performed better and they were selected to represent the southern Highland Zone but at the end of the day the sponsors run out of money something which made us not to go on with this tournament.  Exposure for the boys and girls to other places. We have been travelling within Iringa attending different competitions. Last year November we were invited to go in Kenya to attend to a tournament but we had no funds and we were not able to attend so far. Ilula population has ordinary people who real need help from those who can support; this has made the population around to suffer from missing the school needs, etc. That means parents around cannot afford to support their children to play in a safe environment. IOP tried to go around the communities searching for talents and it found that there are plenty of them and they really enjoy playing soccer. These children play with no shoes; they use a local handmade small ball made of plastic bags that makes them get injuries every time. What to do if we need these kids? i. IOP idea was to provide them with balls so that they may enjoy playing soccer. ii. Bringing them close so that we may be able to train them while near our playgrounds. iii. To combine both the students and non-students to make our team, this is because students most of the times are at school therefore they miss time to train with us. OBJECTIVES OF THE CLUB. Mission and Vision has to relate to the mission of the organization that is IOP but the objectives of each project have to differ always. We have set up our objectives that will drive us to success. THE PURPOSE OF ILULA TIGER CLUB To bring people together and encourage them and promote friendship and sportsmanship whilst enjoying the sports. ITSC is committed to create a safe and caring environment in which vulnerable kids and all the members of the local community can enjoy taking part in sports.
  • 5. 5 PROBLEM ANALYSIS Ilula Tanzania is the area that has been affected by HIV/AIDS in the previous years and therefore there are many children who were left as Orphans and Most Vulnerable Children. In this case the Gender Based Violence (GBV) is unavoidable. Girls have been the first victims of GBV. Girls have been missing the chance to attend to schools simply because they were left orphans with no help, support and care. They get early pregnancies not because they like to be that way but because they have no other life alternative. Early marriages have been another problem and girls think getting married is the solution to their problems. IOP through Ilula Tiger sports Club is working very hard to recruit big number of girls into its club, with intention of saving girls who run out of Ilula and go to big cities like Dar es Salaam where they think life is easy and simple. These girls find themselves getting married while still young, early pregnancies and they find themselves ending to be house maids and nannies while their rights to play, getting education are denied. Through sports IOP has managed to keep many girls and boys, the teams of young girls and young boys has been participating in various game in different places around Kilolo district. IOP through Ilula Tiger Club serve the children around Ilula and near places and enabling the youth in the community by making sure that they get some equipment to use in the sport activities in Kilolo district. IOP dreams is to come up with great achievement in sports by investing to orphans and most vulnerable children both girls and boys. For example through IOPADEN IOP has been reaching more than 900 children every year using this sports tournament, the best players seen and found in this tournament have been used to participate in outside sports and other competition in the district and outside Iringa region. The teams have been going outside for different competitions, However ITSC has not been doing very well because of some difficulties which IOP has been facing to make this club strong to win big children championship in the area simply because this club lacks balls, jerseys, shoes, sox, food, sports house, playing ground and min bus for transporting players to different places where we are invited. IOP believes that if the mentioned changes will be solved the club will be among the best clubs in Kilolo District, Iringa Region, and in Tanzania. This clubs has only one year since established and it has changed life of some boys and girls in the community. The discriminated group now doesn’t feel the same; this is because the club does not base on the history of the child during recruitment. We allow all the kids to feel free to join our club those with the parents and those without parents. They feel so special by participating and getting the chance to join their fellow kids and all social-economic WANTED FUTURE
  • 6. 6 differences are put aside. If we get support from different people our dream is to start a sports academy. This will be easy for us to monitor and control the children we shall be recruiting. For the time being we sometimes fail to control the children because we don’t have a place where we can stay together and learn together as a team. The kids need to have the ethics and rules of the club and this has to be taught as a subject. Club house. We don’t have a place where we can store our equipment and this leads to loss of some equipment and other sports gears. Construction of football grounds. IOP is lacking playing grounds but at the moment Ilula tiger club is sharing the same football ground with children here at the center (Orphanage). One football pitch is not enough for all members of the club and sometimes other teams have to wait train because of having only one playing field. OUR CLUB TODAY: The club has only few members not because they don’t want to join but because we don’t have the means to support the whole population of the children around us. This is how our club looks today but our vision is to get everything improved. Members added, partners added, many more children reached and taught about the importance of joining the world of sports. We still need some partners and some sponsors who can support our club in one way or another. ILULA TIGERS SPORTS CLUB 1. FOOTBALL PITCH 1. PARTNER (FOVEA) FEW MEMBERS about 90
  • 7. 7 WHERE WE WANT TO BE IN FUTURE: Our dreams in future have been to have many partner sponsors who can support one of the teams we have, to have many playing fields where we can accommodate all the kids, to get volunteers who can help us in coaching our kids, to own our club house which will enable us to store our materials in a safe place, to reach a big population of kids who are not yet reached and to establish many more games according to the interests of the kids. SUSTAINABILITY. The club wishes to manage itself in some years in terms of financial status. Lending sports facilities; this may include having some good and quality sporting facilities that will enable us to lend them to the people surrounding us. Things like; Good playing fields/playgrounds, this applies to football, basketball volleyball and other games. For example some of the indoor games that can be included when we already have the sports house like Table tennis, Aerobics dance and Badminton. Building a Gymnasium. Ilula is a fast growing town and in less than five years people will be in high demand of sporting facilities and this will generate the income to the club. Among the customers will be IOP staff and their family friends. From the research done it has been noticed that there is no Gymnasium in Kilolo District and only very few in Iringa municipal (Not more than three). • 8. 8 Exposing our players to the World in future. As for now we recruit children starting from 10 years of age, our plan is not letting these young boys and girls perish in the streets NO! We have to make sure that we make follow up and make sure that we expose them to the big leagues both in the country an outside the country. We can sell these players to big clubs and generate the income to the club. Selling the products of our team. We have a plan that we shall make our own jersey and other sports gears and we can introduce these outfits in the market and sell them to the people around us and even abroad. We can use our own logo and sell these products to earn more money to run the club in the future. Conclusion We all have to understand that a young person is not a small adult and the stages of children growth must be followed sports being one of them. It’s very important to consider the physical development of each child and to distinguish their physical age from their actual age. IOP is requesting all people in all parts of the world who would like to volunteer by coaching, donate anything, giving the sports equipment, advice and sponsoring the club to feel free to contact us. Together we can make the world a comfortable place for each child. Written and prepared by : Adam : Sports Officer +255 655431424 +255755797099 Skype: adamz_15 Email: evaristadam@gmail.com
