1. What have you learnt about the
technologies from the process of
constructing this product?
2. Nikon DSLR
To film our scenes we used a Nikon
DSLR camera which was very good
quality so we also used it to take still
pictures for our montage opening which
we were originally going to use
however, we found that it didn’t fit so
we eliminated that idea after I made a
rough idea of how we wanted.
To ensure that what we filmed wasn't shaky,
we used a tripod as well as a dolly to film the
tracking shots of our character walking out
the house and down the road. We used the
tripod for every bit of filming we did apart
from filming the clock in the science lab
which we found that was a mistake because
although it was filmed for approximately a
second, it was still quite shaky. This is an
example of something we could have done
differently.
3. iPhone and social media
We used our phones, in particular, we
created a Whatsapp group chat in order to
keep organised with each other and to
discuss our ideas and times in which we
were going to meet up and also discuss
what the weather was going to be and
whether it was suitable to film. We also
used my phone to record the voice over in
the opening of our film.
We also used a phone as a prop in our film
opening to illustrate the fact that the girls are
communicating through messages in order to
make sure that they are on time for their
revenge plan. We changed the name of our
contact on the actors phones to Tiffany in
order to symbolise that the protagonist was
trying to get in touch with her posy.
4. Other use of social media
We used survey monkey to create a survey which we
could ask our friends and family to answer so we could
receive a wide range of answers from different age
groups and both male and female. The results we
received helped us to decide on the plot of our opening
and the name of our title.
We also shared the link to our opening on social media
such as facebook and twitter in order to receive good
feedback on what we could improve and what people
liked about the film.
5. iMac and final cut pro
We used the iMac as well as final cut pro to edit
the film opening and add all the shots together,
deciding which shots we needed to do again if
they didn’t fit or didn’t reach the standard we
hoped.
During our editing we realised that all the
takes we shot weren’t long enough to
reach the expected time. This meant we
needed to think of new ideas and quickly
decide on how and when we were going
to shoot them. For example the ending of
our opening we had to film the shots of
Hayley running down the stairs.
