2. Our product develops a similar starting to other movies. When
conducting product research I looked at different openings of
thriller movies some occurred as suspense at the beginning some
took longer to develop. In relation to the thriller opening that me
and my group have made we continued the suspense of a girl
trying to regain a memory yet kept the audience in suspense. By
our product research we viewed that the most common shots are
used is mid shots, jump cuts and mid shots. We subverted the
norm of a young girl being innocent as an audience would expect
by making her the villain. This made the audience more intrigued
of why she maybe portrayed in that way. Another convention used
was an Asian female. In our present film world today not a lot of
female Asian are seen to be in a genre of a thriller.
3. In our media product we represent young girls from
age 17 as they are quiet naive and indecisive.
Taranjeet our main character is seen to be wearing
glasses from an audience point of view she is seen
as quiet clever. However we put her in a state where
the audience least expect she would be confused as
she is naturally seen to be intelligent.Taranjeet’s
white clothing also represents innocence yet this is
a big contradiction as she is a villain in the thriller .
4. There are many different institutions that would
distribute our genre of physiological thrillers
.However the best institution would be universal
pictures as they have distributed some of the best
thrillers such as ‘gone’. Parmount is another
popular institution which may like to produce our
product. Another way in order to help promote our
product is through social media such as twitter in
order to target a wider audience
5. My target audience for my media product I believe will be females from aged
17 till late twenties as our main character is a young female. I believe females
at this age can relate to what is going on in the film and would be successful.
However I wouldn’t want to be stereotypical and say males wouldn’t enjoy
the film as I would like to range my audience. When we were doing our
product research , we ensured that questions were able to help us insure that
we will gain the audience .We conducted a questionnaire from a age group
range of 16 and above. Our product research informed us as a group that
physiological thrillers is the most popular where as crime thrillers was the
least.
6. When we conducted our product research we viewed that physiological thriller was
most popular with our audience so we produced a film that was most popular with the
audience The main audience that we wanted to attract was females aged 16-25 years
old with our main character being a 17 year old we believe that women of that age
could enjoy the movie .
Character:
We used a young female to help us as they are often seen by the media weak and
venerable.
Mise en scene
The first time we see the female we see she is wearing a white top this immediately tells
the audience she is innocent yet we subverted picture by conveying her later on as a
villain.
Sound : From our product research we had feedback from the audience that sound
was the most important effect in order to produce a eye catching thriller. In our thriller
we used ‘dark drone’ sound to grab the audiences attention. When flashbacks was
taking place we used a penetrating sound to draw in the audience and to make them
consider that a important moment may be coming to the scene
7. Throughout the process of creating my media product I
learnt how to use different items which helped produce my
final piece The tools I used most were the Macs and I movie
.At the beginning it was Learning to control an Apple Mac
computer was difficult as I have never used a Mac before it
was so different from using a normal computer, this slowed
me down at the beginning of the process.
8. A Canon camera was used to
film our final product . It was
easy to use and operated well.
Unlike some touch screens, this
was very easy to use and could
rewind back to plays scenes we
had taken.
The tripod was very helpful it
had an impact when filming.We
noticed the difference from our
preliminary task to our final
product. By using the tripod we
developed better shots.
I movie was a challenge to use at the start as it was
the first time I and my group had used the app .
However after using the app we found it easier to
edit our shots and explore different sounds. We
used I movie for some our sounds which enabled us
to pick choices easily and edit at the same time.
9. We used a website called
dafont.com in order to create our
own title to suit our physiological
thriller .This was an easy and
creative process to make our thriller
title and we came up with the
following :
10. From our preliminary task to our final task I viewed
there was many improvements. In our preliminary
task we wasn’t very familiar with using I move or the
camera neither with equipment. Our group had to
adjust and try to figure out how to use the
equipment correctly this was a big difference from
the preliminary task to our final product. An
example which I noticed in our preliminary task and
an group in my media class was that our camera
held work was very shaky and not well presented.
11. An example which I noticed in our preliminary task and a
group in my media class was that our camera held work was
very shaky and not well presented. By using a tripod we
could noticed the big difference about the quality that was
produced and how much of an influence a tripod can make.
