This document evaluates a thriller film and discusses how it was inspired by and challenges conventions of real films. It represents teenagers through its lead character who has a double life as a "master criminal." The film would target teenage and indie film audiences and be distributed at small film festivals initially. Social media would be used to promote it to teenage audiences. The filmmaking process taught the use of camera, audio, and editing software technologies.

2. In what ways does your media
product use, develop or challenge
forms and conventions of real
media products?

3. • We have taken a lot of inspiration from American Psycho,
which starts with a voice over during the leads morning
routine just like ours. We have also taken inspiration from
Requiem For a Dream and Shaun Of The Dead for editing
with the hip-hop montages, it cuts so fast that complex or
normally long process are only a few seconds long. We
also took inspiration from clockwork orange for the long
extended shots. Our film challenges the conventions of
thrillers as it is not psychological and instead relies on its
action and mystery to create a tense atmosphere.

5. How does your media product
represent particular social groups?

6. • Our films lead character is a teenager and is shown to
have a double life. It challenges people’s perceptions of
teenagers as at first you might look at the character and
think he is just a “normal teenager” but it is revealed that
he is a very accomplished criminal. People may not be
able to relate to this master criminal but I think they would
like to. There is also a spilt personality theme throughout
the film; we took inspiration from the gothic novel Jekyll &
Hyde.

7. What kind of media institution might
distribute your media product and
why?

8. • We would enter our film in a small local indie film festival
such as Camden International Film Festival; if successful
we would enter it into a larger indie film festival like
Sundance which would give it enough recognition to
become a large indie film. Darren Arronofsky is an
example of this sort of publicity with his first film Life Of Pi
winning awards at Sundance with a low budget and
becoming a widely known film.

10. • Who would be the audience for
your media product?

11. • The audience of our film would be mainly targeting
teenagers as we feel like they would enjoy it more and be
more interested because the main character is of the
same age. However it would also appeal to most indie film
goers. Due do some violent scene during the film we
would estimate that the BBFC would give our age rating
12a. If our film ever did make it on to TV it would be after
the watershed because we wouldn’t want a minor
watching it thinking its ok and get then get scared.

13. How did you attract/address your
audience?

14. • Because were aiming to a teenage audience we would
advert our film on social media such as YouTube and
Facebook, it is also cheap as we could upload trailers in
the hopes of making it viral. Because teenagers use
social media quite a lot we would hope that they become
brainwashed.

16. What have you learnt about
technologies from the process of
constructing this product?

17. • We have learnt how to use the canon xf100, a rode mic
for the voice over. We used available light and ambient
light, so we did not have a lighting rig. We also used a
range of software, editing in final cut pro x, we also used
cinema 4d to create the clip for the main title to go over. I
also used adobe premiere pro to edit my production
company logo video

18. Looking back at your preliminary
task, what do you feel you have
learnt in the progression from it to
the full product?

19. When me and Thomas where doing our preliminary task
there was not anyone around to be are actors so we had to
film and act in it, which was very hard because when we
were lining up the shot reverse shot because we didn’t
have anyone to tell us if we were in shot or not. Because
we had to do everything twice me and Thomas learnt a lot
about the equipment and how to use it correctly
