3. We did not use a lot of dialogue throughout the opening and used very
slow editing which kept the audience drawn in and highly concentrated
to all the characters actions. This technique was used very well in the
coin toss scene in a “no country for old men” as the slow editing had
the audience drawn in and listen to every word said. It is also very
suspenseful as we can feel something is due to build up as due to the
slow paced editing.
4. In my film this technique is used when Muhammad is walking in and to
his office we only have background music. The music was a thriller
beat which had a build up to it. As Muhammad was walking the music
was building up which had the audience on the edge of there feet as
they knew something was coming but where unable to tell when.
5. Tension was again built when we had the heart beat going off and the
black screen flashing on every beat. This created a sense of curiosity to
the audience as again the heart beat suggested the character was
scared but why was unknown to the audience. By limiting what the
audience knew from the film created tension as it made them very
curious to understand what happened and why. This also created
interaction between the audience as they began to ask each other
questions to find out what was happening.
6. We closed the thriller opening with so many unanswered question . E.g
what was in the bag?
Is seun dead?
How did derrick know seun was coming ?
We left the audience to create there own ending to our thriller again
not reach out to them as they could take the opening into many
directions and could have many possible outcomes.
7. The audience was also attracted as most of them are working class and
males so they was able to relate to our two main villains. They are
able to relate to this as these things happen in reality as males are very
jealous of each other and go to extraordinary limits to ruin each others
success.
8. Our audience where attracted through social media as we all posted a
promo of our film on our twitter, Instagram and snapchat account. We
also done some sort of premiere where we had a big screening and
question from the audience where answered by the characters. The
clips we posted where only 10 seconds long we done intentionally to
make audience hungry for more we took 10seconds from the build up
and stopped it where it was about to climax. This techniques was used
before the publishing of hunger games.
